    Hey all,

I never seem to get more than two bars on LTE and often I find my berry switching over to HSPA. Does this sound like a problem with my provider (Telus) or with the phone? I live in a very urban area and Telus claims it has LTE coverage everywhere here.

    Thanks in advance!

It's the provider. On Virgin (Bell), LTE coverage in Ottawa sucks (well, at least for when I had it enabled). I personally disabled it and signal strength was pretty much full wherever I used it. Even Virgin said their LTE coverage wasn't that good.

Personally, I would just turn LTE off. You get better reception, likely less battery drain (not trying as often to get a better signal), and I personally found browsing to be pretty darn fast with HSPA.

LTE is still in an early adoption phase so it will likely be another year or more before coverage gets better... Depends on the city of course and which carrier as Rogers may have better LTE coverage. As Bell and Telus share towers, they will likely be both equally good or bad depending on where you are.

Rogers LTE is pretty solid, and apparently 95% of the network has been upgraded to LTE Max.

I had issues at first with my SQN100-3 Q10, but lately its been pretty solid LTE Max connection.

Well LTE is now here in my area Sault Ste Marie as of yesterday and I get only 1-2 bars with my playbook LTE model.

Speedtest.net shows around 30-32 mbps I have not seen higher here yet.

As for the Z10 well its shows 3 bars, same speed on speedtest.net 28-32 mbps.

Note: This is inside my home, have not tested outside yet.

I have this same problem because the network here is brand new. I'm in Sask. Right by the downtown Regina SaskTel location and all over the central business district, I get full bars. But, when I go to my place a few blocks south, I drop down to 2 bars and it flip flops between Feaux G (H+) and 4G LTE.

Remember guys that most LTE network run on high frequencies that are very "unfriendly"to walls and structures. So living in urban area makes it worse... LTE have a lot of difficulty going inside buildings. I live in a concrete condo and get 1 or two bars LTE, 5 bars HSPA+. As soon as I go outside, I get 4 or 5 bars LTE

I thought that LTE uses 700 me which in theory should have better building penatration because of the low frequency

The 700 mhz spectrum hasn't been auctioned out in Canada yet. I think in the US only Verizon uses the 700 mhz spectrum

AT&T uses 700 and I believe Canadian carriers do to. I have an unlocked Rogers Z10 arhat phone has 700 mHz LTE too.

Yeah the -3 model all has 700 mhz spectrum but it's not used in Canada yet. The Canadian government is auctioning that spectrum this summer. Since OP is with Telus, I think they use 1700 mhz. Rogers and Bell uses 1700 and 2600 for LTE.

Believe me.. it's really bad when you go indoor here for LTE!

The higher frequencies explains the poor reception. Hopefully the 700mHz is put into action soon.

Yup! It's actually November. 700 mhz LTE would be really sweet! Could solve a lot of battery problems too!
