Hello
In app world I don't see the blackberry NFC smart tags app.
It shows not for my device.
I do have it installed and can use it and often do but what is going on?
I think the nfc writer needed some small improvements but hay looking if any one knows what's going on.

Also when I search in appworld I don't see it!
Simple silly thing.
Side load for nfc dosent really make sense I make the berry one work for me.

I am not sure what this is all about I can use smart tags but according to appworld it's not for my device.

I wonder if it is a problem with your SIM card?
You said that you were using it with your Z10, did you get a new SIM when you changed to The Q?
I think some of the SIM cards are not NFC enabled so that might be sending a false device status to the App world search you are trying to perform.

I think that would be a software problem. Try reloading the OS using BlackBerry Link. It should come as one of the stocked apps.

I just tried my nfc it work to read a tag.
I was given a new sim card when I went from my z-my-q
I'll try a wipe and restore.

I have had Smart Tags working, and well-used, on my Q10 for more than 1 year. I installed it from BlackBerry World. The app has worked fine with NFC and QR codes in OS 10.0 all the way to 10.2.1+ that I am on now. So I know it is compatible with the Q10.

However, when I went to recommend it recently to friends and family who are new BlackBerry users, I was surprised to see that the app is 'not available for your device'. What the heck?

I put in numerous specific requests through @BlackBerryHelp, but they unfortunately seem to have no clue why Smart Tags is no longer in BlackBerry World for the Q10 even though it works. The help desk always replied with a link to the BB User Guide, and a statement that it is available only for some devices or carriers. I know that; that's what I just said. Not helpful.

Does anyone know of a way to talk to a real person who really knows something about real BlackBerry devices? I have people waiting who want to use the capabilities of NFC.

Not a temporary bug, unfortunately. It has been quietly dropped from support for some strange reason, even though it has always worked fine on my Q10.

@BlackBerryHelp still has no clue to what is going on, as I've talked to multiple people there and they repeatedly just refer me back to the documentation that says it's unavailable for the device. However, there are still archived documents on the BlackBerry site that show that it was intended for the Q10, and in fact it has worked fine for me on every release of the OS.

Just a small annoyance, but annoyance just the same. I would just like an explanation one way or another, and a suitable replacement to recommend to other users.

Smart tags came as a default app on my unlocked Q10. Maybe it's a restriction by the carrier they are on?

I can't even delete it if I wanted to.

Nope, it's a strange "bug" already reported. The app came back with a reload of the OS though...
