One thing I don't fully understand is the NFC feature on the Q10... Can someone just explain it to me and tell me how it is useful in everyday life...

Hi, you must first activate NFC and Bluetooth on both phones, then share a multimedia element desired phone and touch (literally) the other phone. It will transmit your media via Bluetooth.

You can do it without Bluetooth.

I never use Bluetooth when transferring files over NFC.

Pretty sure the transfer turns the bluetooth on on both devices for the transfer, then switches off after its completed.
    NFC only starts the process.

Yep, you don't need to have bluetooth turned on before. The NFC will turn it on and pair the devices for you. Kind of like how the 9900 worked with the music gateway...

Probably the main use of it (that I've seen in my daily life) is advert 'tags'. In my city, they are at some of the poster sites. You hold your phone on the tag, then your phone vibrates and prompts you to click a URL. Works fine on my 9900 and Q10.

If you are into automate things with NFC, you might find MyProfilesPro app interesting:

With the rollout of contactless payment expected to expand in the UK this year I can see a bit of a boom as it takes off. NFC has some great uses, just needs a little support from the other side of the fence now.
I'm sure one Apple put it on an iPhone the use of NFC will become fanatically popular.

It doesn't look like that Apple has any interest in NFC.
The support needed from other side of the fence should come from the slooow moving and greedy careers and financial institutions so that they agree on how much they should be paid for Mobile Payments. When they agree, they can get even the backend system BlackBerry has designed and start provision virtual credit cards to smart phones.
