Do you have a case/cover on the device?

It's working even through the Leather Pocket (NFC friendly). The question is what type of NFC tags are you using ?

Ok, I use Topaz 512 chip (3 times more memory). NTAG203 are too small to add a bunch of instructions. By the way, when you want to write one, place it between the BlackBerry logo and the top fret.

One more thing, if you added a paper between your battery and the cover, check if the NFC gold contacts are still connected.

Why would we place a paper between our battery and battery cover in a BB10 phone?

It still doesn't work. I'm guessing it must be faulty.

It's a solution for the ones who have a Q10 that reboot on impact. It's a way to eliminate any gap and force the battery connectors to the phone ones.
But it's easier to put a small piece of plastic between the bottom of the battery and the extruded part where it's lodged... Another way to be sure that the battery doesn't move on impact.

If your tag is a square, rotate it 90 degree and try again. Soft NFC tags can be broken easily.

I've tried everything now so I guess it's faulty.

I did notice the NFC on the back cover has been scratched but only a bit
