When I first connect the cable I get a recognition message. That is followed quickly by another message that my Blackberry has been disconnected.

I should have mentioned that the error message read, in part, that "An error occurred mounting Blackberry XXXX (Pin:xxxxxx) volumes. Please reconnect device [E0x180].

What operating system have you got, PC or Mac, have you updated it recently, did this happen after a change, the more information you can provide the more likely someone will be able to help.

Thank you for responding to my request. I’m using a PC. Yes, my laptop did some updating recently and, now that you mentioned it, my problem started after the update. What other information can I provide?

I assume you are running Windows 10 which has been updated to 1803 (I think) mine is also not connecting properly now since the update so I too will be interested in any possible fix.

Windows 10 has been breaking Link since launch and it is worse with each update.

    I feel your pain.

I have heard the backup situation is no better on windows 7. To backup my passport I had to resurrect a Vista machine. How sad is that?

Backup works like a dream for me, I have a Passport, Classic, Z10 and a P9982 all of which work fine using Windows 7.

It is getting more difficult to work through the problems of BB10 compatability though.

Wow, after some researsh and experimentation I think I have an answer.

In Windows 10 go into 'Settings' - 'Apps' then into 'Programs and Features' located on the right hand side of the screen, then' Turn Windows features on or off' located on the left side on the screen, scroll down to 'SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support' tick the box and hit 'ok' restart your PC and bingo all should be well (worked for me, hopefully it will for you too)

I think you should also be aware this is an older protocol so may make your PC more vulnerable to attack.

Edit: I don't know if it makes things any safer but it still works for me if I only tick the 'Client' box and leave the 'Server' box unticked.

Unfortunately, that didn’t work on my Q10, but thank you for the information. I’m trying to re-establish the sync from my Q10 calendar to my Outlook 2010 Calendar, if that makes a difference.

Thank you all for your suggestions. As a last resort, I tried deleting Blackberry Link and then downloading it again. That didn't work.

You're not alone, I also haven't been able to get link working with my Q10 for some considerable time
    https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb.../#post12958899

I have tried all sorts of things using both Mac OSX & Windows computers.
Even Sachesi struggles to connect to my Q10, although I did manage to update the software a while back to 10.3.3.1463
This is not too big a deal for me as I sync my calendar & contact data with cloud servers, but if things were to go wrong with my Q10 then it could be 'game over'

I'm able to mount my Q10 on a Windows 7 PC also. I don't use Link for synching, but it loads the drivers so that I can copy files from my device to my PC, using Windows Explorer to drag & drop.

There have been several threads complaining that after upgrading to Windows 10, people have had trouble getting their PC to recognise their BB10 device via USB. Possible solutions ("possible" as in they might work in some cases, but YMMV) have included trying several different USB ports on the PC, deleting and re-installing Link (you only need it for the drivers), or backing up your data to a USB Flash drive on a friend's Windows 7 machine, and then transferring the data from the Flash drive back to your PC.

Let us know if you manage to get your device backed up!

Backup works like a dream for me, I have a Passport, Classic, Z10 and a P9982 all of which work fine using Windows 7.
