My BlackBerry Q10 has a red light flashing and it won't turn on. How can I fix this?

I bought a second hand Q10 today and plugged in into charge soon as I got it home. I left it to charge for about an hour and the whole time it just had a sequence of flashing red lights and won't turn on at all. I did some research on here and I've come to the conclusion the software has corrupted, however I can't do any of the tips or tricks I've ready so far because 1. My computer doesn't recognise the phone since it's never been plugged into it before and 2. I'm running Mac instead of Windows.

Can anybody help me out at all? Thank you!

Download bb link for Mac and plug your phone in and hit the restore software, if it doesn't find it hold your power button down until it connects.
