Yes it runs android and has no physical keyboard, but from an ergonomic, pocket friendly, and one handed use perspective is this the natural successor to the Q10? If not, what will be in that dark future where the Q is consigned to the ash heap of history?

Well, there are no sucessors to blackberry anymore. Just in terms of size and ergonomics.

DTEK50 is the same size, but lighter and thinner than the Z30 and Leap. It would seem a logical successor to those devices at least.

Probably to the Z30, but too big to be one for the Z10 or Q10...which is why I suggest the E.

We've had a couple Moto G's and they were fine phones. The Q10 takes better pics tho.

I would think you would be happier with a Moto RAZR HD; Maxx; Turbo series.

Those razrs and maxxes are fairly large phones though, right?

I am quite content with the q10 for now. The ergonomics are perfect.

Well in size the next small Nexus codenamed SailFish out this fall will be the most portable with a 5in 1080P screen and QC820 SOC. Sony has the Xperia X Performance with same size/specs but more expensive.

My RAZR HD is the same width and thickness, looks to be longer on the bottom by the length of the space bar row and cover plate.

Seems to me with the keyboard up on RHD it's about the same real estate as the Q10 screen / keyboard.

I think I use the Z10 leather holster for it, unfortunately I don't have the box for it to confirm.

I prefer the Q10 for all things that need massive keyboard work and pics, and the RAZR for all touch based work like youtube and shopping apps as it just seems more fluid. Both seems to be about the same speed.

Moto E's can be found around here new prepaid for less than $40 USD, but I haven't checked used RHD or RMHD prices lately.

I was actually looking at the Moto E. The main problem I saw is the lack of a camera flash which means no flashlight. A lesser problem is that there's no planned upgrade to Marshmallow which allows individual app permissions.

Please advise if I'm wrong as I'd love to be :-)

I think you are probably right about that. I was just looking at it from the perspective of its ergonomics. It is hard trying to find successors for the Z/Q series of phones.

Right now we are relying heavily on the Z/Q bridging to playbooks for our Internet. Can't seem to find another phone/tablet pairing - or even a phone laptop pairing that allows for this.
