I just upgraded my Sprint Q10 software last night and like most of the new features. I am missing an old feature I used a lot. I keep a lot of customer information in the notes section of the contact screen. That information includes a lot of phone numbers specific for that contact. With the old software version I could hold my finger on the phone number and the side bar would come up and give me an option to call. On the new version, it works the same up to the point of calling. The phone icon is there when I press a phone number in the contact notes, but it does not call. The first press of the phone number clears all the text information on the contact notes except for phone numbers. Then I press the phone icon and the word call shows up but does not do anything when I press it except the text comes back in the notes screen. I used this feature every day, and really will miss it if it is not going to work in this release. Maybe there is a setting someplace to enable calling from notes or ? ? ? ?

Has anyone else used this in 10.2.1.2674 ? Does it work for you?

Is there some other key combinations I need to use or ? ? ? ?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Try a hard reset by holding the volume buttons for about thirty seconds until you see the blue loading circle.

    Thank you for your response.
The hard reset did not make a difference. I replace the battery everyday and I think that is a hard reset too. That does not change anything either. Still will not enable the call feature.

I have not been able to find a solution for this problem. It really is aggravating because I keep a lot of phone numbers in notes for my customers. Blackberry knows it doesn't work. I'm hoping it will be fixed in 10.3. It did work in the original operating system. Stopped working when I updated to 10.2. If you find any more information please pass it on, I would love to get it fixed.

I hate offering workarounds to things like this but my solution to a similar shortcoming in the OS recognizing phone numbers in the browser: app Flow Dialer.

Thanks for the info on Flow Dialer. It does work. You are right, it should not have to be used, but until Blackberry fixes it, this will help. Hopefully 10.3 will have the problem fixed.

    Harvey,
did you checket that - I will download w/in this week when will exchange experiance
< Just found this app. It's free and is one of those things that should not be taking this long to get onto BB10.

You copy any number anywhere on the phone, press and hold, go into share and share with flow dialer. The app will launch then ask if you want to dial the number. Then it will open the phone app.

It does not need to run as an active frame.

Feels like a workaround because of the extra step but good for now. Blackberry could use the same process but launch the phone app directly.

Check out Flow Dialer in BlackBerry World! You can find it at BlackBerry World - Flow Dialer

I'm not sure if I understand your issue completely because I don't use notes, but I just saved a note with a phone number in it and when I tap the number it opens the phone app and dials it. I'm using a z30 with 10.3.1.1016.

Both use the Remember app, so you're right, it's the same thing.

EDIT: by the way, it works well on 10.2.1.3442. If you open the note in Remember, the detected phone number turns blue and a simple tap makes the call...

I just dialed a number this morning from the notes section of a contact.

    Z30STA100-5/10.2.1.3247

The number is blue and clicking on it dials the number.

Hope you get it figured out.

I'm curious, what exactly is the issue? what are you trying to do that you can't?

Boody - did you read the OP and his response to OP? He said he has same issue.

NOT in Notes as you misunderstood in your original response, but in the "Notes" section if the Contacts app.

P.S. Works for me on Z30STA100-5/10.2.1.3247, but not for OP

Yes I did misunderstand thanks for the clarification.

It works on my z30 running 10.3.1.1016

Making a phone call from the notes section of the contact screen-img_20141110_204915.png

Just tap the blue # and it automatically dials. Or long press for overflow
