I've read all the forums about the issue with the battery drainage and tried everything people have advised to do. I'm running software 10.2.1.2156, unlocked Q10 with T-Mobile sim.

Device monitor shows screen using the most energy (2.2%), yet battery is draining really fast. If anyone can help?

    Please and Thank you.

Also, My mother has the same issue. Same phone and update, apps (only the pre-installed ones) and she hardly uses it.

Maybe it is because of the wireless stuff, I have the same problem at school: there are lots of wifi access points so switching between them consumes lots of processing power.

I found my device draining the battery mainly for the following reasons.

    - WiFi on when no WiFi is available.
I now basically turn my WiFi off as I have an unlimited data plan anyway.

    - BBM Channels
Had to turn them off as I didn't use them too often anyway.

    - Hotspot (well that's obvious)

And also check if you have any apps fetching data very regularly. The battery monitor which shows you the use per app isn't too accurate in my opinion. You have to figure it on your own. And try to set your screen brightness not too high.

Turn off BlackBerry link. Its under settings, disable diagnostics and turn off media sharing too.

How long ago did you upgrade?

Failing this backup your device using BlackBerry link and then reload followed by a restore

Can you post a screenshot of your device manager battery stat? Preferably after a at least 3-4 hours of use.

Just don't subscribe to any channels, that's what I've meant

It did pretty well this time, it stayed at 100% during the first hour. So it might be the wifi calling and location services.

I only use the email. No social apps or cloud services.

I've done everything and battery keeps draining.....-img_20140423_005029.png

May I ask you sir, how much do you pay for unlimited data? :-)

have you loaded any android apps? sometimes they don't load, or shut down properly, and cause over useage. Also, check to see if your NFC is turned off.

I have bbm channels on, wifi on, and it seems to turn off automatically when no wifi is in range, and my battery longevity is GREAT. I get between 18 to 30 hours, depending on my useage.

    You may
My carrier in switzerland offers unlimited data plans only now. I pay around 100$/month for unlimited data at 7.2 Mbit/s which is basically 3G speed. This includes 30mins international calls and 30MB data roaming in Europe as well as unlimited local calls.

Plans are going up to 145$/month for 21Mbit/s or 190$/month for high-speed Internet and including 200MB data roaming per month and unlimited international calls.

All the plans are unlimited data.

I wish that was 3G speeds here. Mine were like .6mbps

    Well it's theoretically 3G speed. When I'm on a 4G network I reach 7.2mbit/s. If I'm on 3G I don't. I think 6mbps is even acceptable on a 3G connection.

I have never had a problem with my battery before and after all updates. Make sure you do not have too many windows running in the back ground. Q10 is a great device and you must really look at how you are using it and determine if you should be using another device for what you are trying to achieve whether it's work or play.

Most important thing is to read lots of post and you will come up with a solution.

I never leave anything running, it's not for work or anything important. But sometimes I'm out all day, so if I keeps happening then i'll probably get an extra battery.

    Thanks

I had this random battery drain start on my Q10, thought I was going mad, changed all the settings on my email accounts, didn't do a thing, deleted whatsapp, thought that was it...turns out I think I needed to take the battery out and restart...has settled back down to normal now, was extra impressed yesterday, did a good few hours of voice calls and still had loads of power left...my issues started when the BBVE update appeared, I noticed that when I looked at the app and plugged in the charger it didn't show as charging...have you looked at that?

Both you and your mom have turned on something or the employee at the T Mobile store messed up. I would unload everything and replace the SIM card and battery. If you get it back to factory settings then load what you want one at a time to find the drain. There may not be a quick fix so do the same with your mom's phone and you both reload one app at a time every couple of days and find the issue.

I've deleted the BBVE app. The battery was doing fine last me a day an half; now it's draining again and heating up.

We got our phones from BlackBerry, we know how to put the SIM card in properly. Her phone is doing well. Mine was doing better after deleting and disabling a bunch of stuff. Now, it's heating up.
