I do the unlinking and then click save, but what happens is that they linked to another contact, so I don't know what to do
After I updated my Q10 to 10.2.1.2228 , I have messed up all the contacts . Contacts got linked automatically & I dont understand the logic of link. Cant even unlink them.
How do I get them back in order .
Cleared the local contacts , still showing in links.
Try using one service, and a single service only to sync contacts.
You can change your account sync relationships on your device in the accounts section of the settings panel.
I have also been reading that some have had success using Outlook only.
If you choose to use a service like Google, I would also recommend to not allow duplicate contacts in the settings from a PC.
Not sure it this helps, but I don't see many willing to attempt to assist regardless of all of the thread views.

I'm on the same boat as you. As a matter of fact I'm so sick of this whole contacts linking non sense. I don't want anything to be linked, period.
My contacts, after the update, have also become a total wreck. Imagine it's so bad that right now the caller ID doesn't work and even when it does, it shows different names for different contacts. Imagine how my WhatsApp looks like now...I also, just like you, have a few contacts linking over 30 other contacts under them with the "save" option not working either...WHY?
I don't want any linking or anything of those sorts . I simply want a number and a name. Is that too much to ask for nowadays?

Nobody is helping, I will reload the old software, update it again and upload my contacts, I'll let you know how it goes.
Where are your contacts saved?
