    I am considering the Q10.

I currently have the last bold (9930), and it doesn't have great reception when compared to my wife's Droid Raz'r in the mountains (she doesn't drop calls, I barely get any calls)

I know blackberry's are generally known for good reception, but that just hasn't been my experience (my previous bold had the same issue).

    Anyone has any insight?

    Hey there,

I've had the 9000 as well as the Z10 and the Q10. I would say i've had really good reception on the 9900 (carrier dependant though) but the Z/Q10 have been exceptional. I've had signal in areas where i'd previously get minimal to no service (that awesome SOS icon lol). No more with the Q or Zed!

If you do run into any issues though, you can always change your radio file! running a search on CB you'd get all the info and feedback you would require!

The reception of my Q10 is better than the Nokia n8 I used before on the same SIM and Nokias are known for good reception. In addition, sometimes I will have 1 bar signal only and the connection is still good (I guess noise SNR also matters). Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the call quality.

My reception in Germany is exceptional. Far better than on my Pre or Xperias.

Very good reception and extraordinary call quality - especially when your provider supports HD calls. Never came across this before but my provider Vodafone Germany supports this. Calls on other mobile phones sound terrible all of a sudden.

Today is my first day with my Q10, and the call quality has blown me away. In fact, the first person I called said to me, "Is this from your cell phone? The reception is perfect."

I've made a few phone calls and they've been landline quality. Outstanding piece from Blackberry here.

yes, this thread has just made me realise a q10 is better at hanging onto a signal in a weak signal area, and won't go out of service where an older blackberry device might have. It is also good at still making use of that signal in terms of being able to use it in making a call. Some phones report a few bars, but if you try and make a call you are out of luck.
