    I didn't charge the phone... I removed the battery, and restarted it. Lol

    That's how it is possible. The phone had to determine the charge state of the battery after the it was put back. Also removing the load from a battery will allow it to recover somewhat.

    Repeat a couple more times and your battery is back to full. Helps in extreme situations.
