I've only had the Q10 for 24 hours... Been on Android for 2 years.
I've downloaded a few ringtones since there were none to speak of on this Q10 which had been hard re-set by the previous owner.
I have some empty folders which I innocently created to try and save the ringtones but they didn't go into them and ended up saved on their own (once I knew more or less what I was doing!)
Can I delete the empty folders? I can't see any way to do so...

I'm on the latest non 10.3 version.

If you go to File Manager, you should be able to tap the folder to highlight it and then hit the overflow buttons (or side menu that pops out) and choose delete.
