Hey guys, I've been connecting my Q10 to my TV, and while it looks great, I'm having a hard time figuring out why I would want to connect it to a TV in the first place.

Youtube videos play within the square format, unfortunately. Do purchased movies, or 16:9 videos play in square format as well?

Can I rent a movie on BlackBerry world and play it in 16:9 over hdmi? What about powerpoints?

    Thanks for looking.

Yup, you can play them fullscreen. Presentations and photos too.

You can even play them on the TV and do something else on the Q.

Awesome, thanks. Just gave it a try with a test video, better than iOS video out, for sure, I think.

For YouTube videos, search for Downloads Manager by lildeimos. You'll have to sideload it because BlackBerry does not allow such programs into App World, but it can download MP4 versions of YouTube videos so that you can play them fullscreen through the Videos app.

You can also stream movies from Crackle (free) or Amazon.com.

Crackle movies I've seen play widescreen and are nice and clear.

Seems like you've got it working - I was having trouble playing full screen on the TV - but now have had some success:

I have an intersting problem using HDMI. Using the same mini HDMI cable, my Z10 connects to my new Panasonic plasma, but my Playbook doesn't. My Playbook does connect to another Panasonic LCD TV.

Can anyone help me understand what the problem with this is?

I think you're in the wrong forum, doubly-so.
