It seems like some units have trouble with the update and others don't. I've updated mine without any problems, but if I hadn't done it on the first day, I wouldn't have done it. I'm cautious, so I'd recommend waiting until they fix the bugs. You can't be sure that you won't get them, and to be honest, the difference between 10.2.1 and 10.3.1 is insignificant when compared to the difference between 10.2.1 and a dysfunctional phone.

10.3.1 upgrade is totally worth it. Huge leaps in functionality, read a little about some folks not liking the calendar's evolution but otherwise 3.1 is excellent. It is also without Flash capabilities in case this is important to you.

Fully understanding everyone's experiences are different.

Nonetheless, based on my circle of friends and family, and what happened to my Q10's, I would definitely, absolutely wait. You may not have any issues, but hey, why chance it. And if you are like me, and only use Native Apps, on the one Q that was "less buggy", I noticed no improvement in performance. Matter of fact, just the opposite. Moreover, given the new UI, the calendars, etc., if you are happy with 10.2.XX, I can't see any reason to upgrade at this moment.

If you upgrade right away before installing anything you are more likely to have 0 issues. Meaning no contacts or emails setup yet.

The UI is much better and cleaner looking than it was before and the battery life got better for me, but after the latest update There's this issue with the phone that after every time it reboots it has gone to factory defaults and all my data is gone. And it does this every time. I've tried factory reset myself and even did the security wipe but it hasn't helped.

I think CB has made an article with the solution to this problem.

OP: You should update the OS. It's better in almost every way, it's highly stable and getting an average of 23 hour battery backup with medium usage.

If you like not being able to hear your device's notifications, a crappy looking calendar and a host of other issues, than by all means "upgrade" to a less functional device. One that will make you question your sanity for even considering this "upgrade".

Personally I suggest installing a leak. I'm using an unlocked Tmobile SQN100-5 with the leaked version of the current release of 10.3.1.2243 and I've had none of the major issues a lot of people have been complaining about. Not sure if that's just luck though.

not to hurt anyones feelings, but ive read so many battery/performance issues about almost every leak.... and quite frankly, never had much of an issue after trying things myself.... there ARE people who really dont know what theyre talking about or think they set things up correctly.... are the leaks 100% flawless? no..... but I think the complaints are extremely out of proportion...

go for the 10.3.1 leak.. and just use the phone instead of turning it on to stare at it or fiddle around doing nothing then wonder why your battery "doesnt last"

Most critical issue (for me) is whether you get hit by the low volume notifications bug, which many (but not all) who upgrade their Q10's to 10.3 have reported. It's the only issue that's keeping me with 10.2, I really need to hear my Q10. Most of the other issues reported I could probably live with, many of which become subjective eg. do you like the new flat interface, modified calendar etc.
You need to decide what the benefits are to you and your own use case if you upgrade to 10.3 - if they are minimal, stay with 10.2 - otherwise go for it & good luck! Either way you will not be alone, the CB community is always here to offer support

    You should upgrade.

    Two reasons:
    1. I am assuming that 10.3.1 is out because it's in the company's best interest to make sure you make the most out of your phone. Why settle for an old software version when you can get the (current) best one?
    2. There are things that you can do easier right after the upgrade. Some users have posted their problems here and asked for help. Some of those problems have already been resolved. Check those out because they have helped me as well.

I would move to the last 10.3.0 - - rather than any of the 10.3.1 OSes. 10.3.0 has all the benefits of 10.3.1 and none of the downsides.

I happily upgraded, I've had 2 "issues". One, the volume, which is a bit lower but all the "I can't hear my phone" comments are typical CB hyperbole. And my battery life isn't great, but my battery life also went to hell when I upgraded to the latest 10.2.1 OTA from Sprint, so I didn't lose anything there either.

I had no issues with the upgrade via BlackBerry Link on my Z10 but do suffer from the low volume on notifications on my Q10. Hopefully BlackBerry will resolve this issue soon as it is somewhat annoying for me.

There are other issues some have noted and the calendar being a big one it seems for some. Personally I have no problem with it and the pros exceed the cons for me with the upgrade.

    UPGRADE!

You wont regret the upgrade, and my suggestion/advice about having no troubles and the best experience on your Q10 after upgrading is as follows:
    1. Use the Autoloader for 10.3.1.2267 to load that OS on to your phone
    2. Security wipe after .2267 is done loading
    3. When .2267 is done loading after security wipe, use Sachesi to load just the app files in 10.3.1.2480 (that means you take out the two "qc..., files from the the unzipped folder before you load the rest onto your Q10..., the "qc...," files are for the Blackberry Passport only).
    4. After you are done loading the .2480 files (and there should be about 71 of them), then you can start setting up your Q10, adding emails and stuff. Do not restore any backup to the phone, start everything clean and fresh. You will definitely enjoy the OS (upgrade) and have no problems with your Q10.

When I stated that I couldn't hear my device's notifications after I "upgraded" to 10.3.1, I meant exactly that, it isn't hyperbole of any sort.

OP, Do yourself a favor and read the CrackBerry threads about all the problems with the new OS. BlackBerry has stopped pushing out the update and their knowledge base is filling-up with reported problems and bug reports. It is not being exaggerated like some uninformed people are claiming. Just do some research and you will see that 10.3.1 is not quite ready and needs some more work. Not everyone is having problems (or they haven't noticed them yet) but the new OS in my opinion is not worth the time to install right now. Wait for the next release.

I'm on Q10SQN100-4/10.3.1.2267 and I have not had a problem yet. This is on my work BlackBerry. The only problem I came across was my BlackBerry was not getting 4G signal. But as of this morning where I live and work I'm getting my 4G here and there. My jobs BlackBerry is on Sprint, the reason for spotted 4G.
