Lovely group of trolls here I must say...

For those reading this thread and feeling discouraged about upgrading their Q10 from 10.2.1 to 10.3.1 - DON'T feel that way.

10.3.1 is a fantastic update for the Q and breathes new life into it. There are some fantastic new features added that really make the Q10 a powerhouse of a device.

The first thing you notice is the smaller icons which allow for a 5th row, bringing the number of icons on your screen from 12 to 15. Not a big change but I like it.

The biggest plus to the update is keyboard shortcuts. Now not only can you program keys for speed dialing but also to launch any app or launch features like compose. You can even program a key to open a BBM or text thread with a specific contact.

The Hub has been given an overhaul too with probably the best feature being instant actions for quickly sorting, replying, and deleting messages. Up to two instant actions can be displayed but if you keep them displayed you'll probably only want one showing on the Q's screen size.

Speaking of screen size, the Android runtime now has the ability to resize apps that don't quite like the square aspect ratio. Also, the Android runtime is much improved and you'll be pleased at how smooth Android apps run and how many more apps will run that couldn't before.

Another great addition with 10.3.1 is custom notification. Now you can customize the L.E.D. colour for any contact or app and also the sound and volume as well.

For Q owners, 10.3.1 is really a great update. Don't pass it up.

Just finished upgrading my Q10. I feel like I've got my old Bold back with the small icons (5 across instead of 4; smaller) - I'm not a fan of this. Also, I'd like to be able to switch my Hub back to black. Still checking things out.

Exactly right. The screen is now a disaster. Sensitivity has gone and it takes 7-10 presses just to go back one page.
Blackberry has done the number on Q10 uses
Yep. Definitely noticing it on my Q10's.

As I give the upgrade a "fair shake", I have noticed, I am hitting the buttons at the bottom more than I ever did, consequently, I am off in all directions.

Is it just me, or does the screen seem more crowded, cluttered and in turn make for more "gesture errors"? If yes, was there a learning curve?

Also, it seems there are more things at the bottom of the screen that are always present, aside from the BLUE BLOB or BB for short, that were not in the previous OS. Or is this just because my gestures are constantly catching the icons and features?

There is a serious problem of sensitivity on the Q10 after this update. Just try to tap on the phone icon at the bottom left of the screen with your thumb ; it's a fail 4/5.

Unfortunately, for some users, smaller icons and extremely lower volume levels alone make for an unusable device. Older eyes don't appreciate more icons and older ears (and some young ones) don't see a use in having a communication device where one can not hear its rings and other notifications.

A rollback to 10.2.1 is the only answer at this time in our lives.

Text below the icon is clearer though and not smaller. The icons themselves seem to be a 1/4 smaller -ish

See, you were clearly wrong, Dave. Put that in your pipe and smoke it lol...

By the way, the icon text in 10.3 is extremely hard to read if the background image is light colored. That's not an issue in 10.2 due to the clever shadow border around the icon and behind the text.

Anyhow Dave, I don't know why you enjoy being such an obstinate BlackBerry *** kisser on these forums. Is your life so otherwise boring that you must come here and beat your drum at people, dismissing their concerns and espousing the wonders of your imaginary reality? Seriously man, take a break.

If u want .3 get the classic. If u like the q10, stick with. 2. There's very little improvement with the new os pure functionality wise. BlackBerry assistant is a joke.

YOU have that problem, but not everyone...

In my case it worked 10 out of 10 times.

Some have double-typing issue, some haven't. Does it make this less a serious issue ?

10.3.1 is a giant mess. So many issues, especially for us Q10 users. I was just comparing file sizes of the 10.3.1 autoloader with the 10.2.1 autoloader. The 10.3.1 autoloader is a whopping 2.9 GB in size compared to 2.2 GB for the 10.2.1. Why is 10.3.1 so big? Bloat, that's why. Features that don't work or are just not needed. 700MB is a giant size difference. No wonder some are saying the new OS seems sluggish. 10.3.1 is almost 30% larger in size!!

I only hate the back and overflow buttons and especially the giant signature icon not fade out but covering a big part of the hub when scrolling down. I fear I will see this in other apps, when developers change to 10.3 features.

The display settings "Turn off icon labels" and "hide the action bar when scrolling" are kind of a must because of the Q10's screen size.

Does it seem like this Os update wasn't designed for the screen size of the Q10?-img_20150303_120702.png

It's not only that-- any websites or emails I view are HUGE and I can't pinch to resize like I could before. Setting the emails to resize to screen just makes them tiny and there's a white space. The browser still sucks and won't give me any options to work with.

When OS was updated they added default magnifying function which causes screen to enlarge. Go to settings accessibility and turn it off and some of these issues may go away. Worked for me! I like classic screen size but q10 has a lot going for it like compactness and they both have good web speed thank goodness.....
