Hmmm... I'm near-sighted too (very badly--I have a prescription of about 7.5), and I feel the same way.

Dark theme looks better in my opinion. I just love darker themes in general so that's just my personal preference, but overall Dark is better

Plus the dark theme makes the icons pop out more with vibrant colors
