Looking to buy my first BB and I will go probably for a Q10 since the Passport seems to have issues with the splitting screen. But now I read so many comments from people having double typing issues on their Q10.

What are the chances if I order a new Q10 from BB.com to get a phone with this problem? Do the new manufactured ones have this issue too?

The vast overwhelming number of either model have no issues. Go on any forum, for any product, and you'll see posts about defects. Just the nature of a forum.

My Q10 has the issue. As an fyi,

It also injects phantom 0 key presses. No idea what you mean about splitting screen though. Both of my passports seem +++

No issues with my Q10 here. I even swapped out the case after denting one of the top corners from a good drop. Still no issues. This is one tough phone with great build quality.

Neither of the keyboards showed (s) the double typing issue.

My Q10 had the double typing issue after about three or four months of use. I changed the keyboard and is working fine now. It was an EZ thing to do and took about fifteen minutes from start to finish. I would recommend the Q10.

I had double-typing between 8 and 12 months of use, but the excellent word prediction made it manageable.

I was about to replace the keyboard, but then the problem decreased and then went away. I haven't experienced double-typing in at least 2 months, and my phone is now 18 months old.

I'll probably still order a spare keyboard and toolkit (quite cheap) just in case it returns.

Can you help with a link to order the keyboard? Preferably on Amazon. It's high here. My sis spent $43 to replace her defective Q10 keyboard. I want to get a keyboard and white/silver bezel. Thank you.

I haven't had that much of an issue. On occasion, I will have it happen with the "i" or "o" keys, but it's not very regular.

Hmmmm let's see keyboard doesn't work right in the first place. Replace it with a BlackBerry OEM keyboard and within an hour the y key feel off. Seller did made it right though. Your wanting quality? There is no quality anymore just products.

There's been one thread to date, unless I missed something. If I did, Google missed it too. I just searched.

after 6 months of use I have not had this issue. I would do as folks are advising and try switching out the keyboard. With the right wrenches it is a piece of cake.

I had three Q10s that all developed the keyboard/double typing problem. I finally gave up and got a Z30 and have never looked back. I don't miss the physical keyboard at all, like I thought I would.

Hmmm Mine started the double typing after a month or so of purchase. The keys have been very hard too. Enjoyed typing better on my 9900. Hopefully I'll be lucky with another keyboard as I have no plans of getting the Classic or any other BlackBerry device anytime soon.

I with you on like typing on the 9900 but BB10 is way more better than OS7.
Give the new keyboard a try.

I had this issue, and then adjusted a setting and it went away: offhand I don't recall but if you do some Googling, you should find the answer. I too thought it was hardware related as it started happening after owning the device for a while, but since I've made that setting tweak, no issues at all.

UPDATE: I'm sorry, I remembered wrong: the issue with me was solved after turning off the "period shortcut" feature in the "Language and Input" section. Periods were being introduced as I typed...

It's been over 9 months with my Q10, and still no double typing.

And my Q10 gets wet sometimes too when I have to take a call in the rain.

I think there is an issue both with hardware and software. At the beginning I could get the Q10 to quit double typing be going into setting or clearing learned words. That would work for awhile then after some time it didn't change. After replacing the keyboard it was like having a new phone.

I would suggest please do not go for Q10 because mine is not only having double typing issues, also has a problem with data. If i speak more than 10 min on my Q10 then my data would not work. I have to switch of the mobile network and switch it on back. 3G also network sucks..

There is very little actual double typing for Q10. There has not been a single Youtube video that demonstrates double typing on Q10.

Double typing is a clear example of a mass hysteria.
