I keep getting annoying alerts from my android apps and bb world when there is an update available. Is there any way to silence these notifications without putting the phone on silent? I searched the threads but couldn't find anything relevant. Thanks!!

Well the Notifications tab consists of other apps sending notifications but don't have the right to dedicated tabs for themselves.
If you wanna stop the Notification tab, I believe you'll have to turn off the notifications of each individual app that appears there from Settings --> Notifications.
