Topic says it all. Anyone know if BlackBerry has started giving these to developers yet? Or does anyone in crackberry nation have one already?

I received this email from Blackberry's developer relations :

    Hello,

Application submissions for the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha C program are now closed. The deadline for submitting applications for this program was February 5, 2013.

Applications that have been submitted for the BlackBerry Dev Alpha C program are currently being tested; the applications that qualify will be assigned points as per the point system outlined on the Inside BlackBerry Developer blog This is an A-B Conversation. Well, C Too. BlackBerry Developer Blog.

If you have been identified as eligible to receive a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha C, you can expect to receive further instructions on how to redeem the device by February 28, 2013.

    Sincerely,

    BlackBerry Developer Relations

I thought they were released early February, or maybe that was just the SDK.

No offence but I would rather these devices go to the App Dev's that make the Apps that are big on BB7 and not just those who asked for one.

The timing is a bit of a concern. I don't believe that the Q10 and the Dev Alpha C will arrive at the same time. Surely the Dev Alpha C will need to be in the hands of developers so that they can get their apps ready for the Q10 release...

BB says that the Dev C will go to "trusted" developers .

There was a points system based on BB10 apps submitted by the Dev to determine who got a Dev Alpha C.

"Trusted Developers." I feel pretty good. I had two Android ports, two WebWorks apps, two App Generator apps, and a damn good story about how I'm excited about Q10, how it'll be the true flagship handset, and I'd like to start porting my BlackBerry Java apps to it--they didn't make much sense on a touch screen what with app the keyboard shortcuts.

No previous points. No dev alpha a or b, no BlackBerry Jam attendance. Part of that decision making process had to have been on the merits of when they asked what you plan on using it for.

    Is he working for Blackberry?

I have a friend who's a Waterloo student interning there now and he still hasn't got his hands on a Q10 (he has been issued a Z10 for the duration of his coop term though)

This sucks no? If developers don't get units, how can they port their apps?

That's what the simulator is for. It's been available for a few days now.

Polytope you are obviously not a developer. If you were you would know that not all BB10 features work on the simulator.

Gestures are particularly problematic to test on the simulator, as it only support mouse inputs. I hope to get my Dev Alpha C soon. Have to say, more excited for it than the Z10 LE.

    Bingo.
I've developed relatively simple apps that behave differently on the simulator, ripple and on device.
To be frank, I don't care how they behave on the simulator or ripple, but how will I know that they function properly on device if I don't have one to test it on?
