The Q10 is not nearly as solid as I was led to believe. Not cheap, but not bold 9900 quality. Glass Weave doesn't seem anything special, either.

No metal of any kind on the housing.

Dev Alpha C users, you're not missing much.

The frame on the Q10 is made out of stainless steel.

Pretty sure the frets are made out of metal too, but I can't remember.

I really like the exclusive look of the DAC. It's cool to have something so few people have.

I would love a DAC... looks more rugged and industrial...I would really love the DAC if it were actually a ruggedized Q!

You're right, the frets are stainless steel as well, and so is the bar on the back of the phone.

I wish the keyboards were interchangeable - the all black frets from the dev alpha would look great on the q10! Sadly, from the photos, they look slight different.

No they are not. I can bend the frets with my finger nails.

That would mean BBRY is lying then, which I somehow doubt. It has not only been stated by BBRY reps during the launch event back in January, but it has already been stated by countless hands-on reports and by mulitple reviews.

This is the interesting bit. The article that I posted said the back fret is metal, the frame is metal, but they did not mention anything about the frets on the keyboard. Lol.

I can bend the frets on my Bold 9930. In fact, a long time ago, I scratched off the silver paint from the frets, giving it a similar look to the Dev Alpha C.

But I heard the Q10 had metal frets, and now we're finding out they can be bent/wiggled just like the frets on the Bold 9930?

you do know a thin peice of stainless or alum tha the frets would be made of would be bendable... ;-)

They are metal as far as I can tell.

I am not sure what the OP is smoking but I'm holding the 9900 and the Q10 right now an the build quality on the Q10 is amazing, it feels like a solid phone. The Glass weave on the back is solid and matte feeling unlike the glossy prone to smudge back of the 9900. The Weight and balance in the Q10 are great as well I love holding this phone

Not if you know how plastic bends. The back strip is metal and the keyboard frets are clearly not the same material

Thin pieces of aluminum, steel, or stainless steel will not bend like the plastic frets on the Bold 9930, especially with how thick they are and how securely they should be embedded into the device.

I tap them they sound plastic, and they are not magnetic. Unfortunately, I'm not about to dissect my wife's Q10 to absolutely positively confirm.

There IS extra weight to it, heavier than DAC (even though Q10 is smaller), but I'd know metal when I see it.

Could have been a last minute cost saving measure to use plastic...
