I think it's more about how cold metal would feel in winter

I tap them they sound plastic, and they are not magnetic.
Considering what magnets do to gadgets, why would they make it magnetic? - that would just be plain stupid!

Looking back at the informational marketing for the Q10, it's true that they don't specifically say that the keyboard frets would be metal, only the fret above the battery door on the back.

Of course you can bend metal, if its modulus of elasticity is appropriate, if it's thin enough, if you heat it to high temperature, etc. It's a no brainer.

It's also a no brainer that these relatively thick bands, embedded into a device, sandwiched between walls of keys, would not bend if they were metal, especially just from bumping them with your thumbs.

is very misleading, but when you read carefully their blog post about the design of the Q10, you realise that they don't mention the frets being metallic.

Magnetic is having a reaction to a magnet, not itself a magnet

I know 100% they were advertised as being stainless steel frets!
But I swear to god I'm gonna be furious if my frets start peeling off again like on my 9900!

My DAC has the double typing issue with the 'y' key. Thinking about replacing it or trying the fix that's on this board.

The frame around the Q10 is machined steel. The frets on some Q10 keyboards are metal and some are silver colored plastic. Not sure why that is, but my OG launch day Q10 has metal keyboard frets and I have another Q10 with a smashed screen (my Dad's old broken phone) and the keyboard on it has silver colored plastic frets.

They are metal, on my Sprint model at least.

The Q10's frame is stainless steel. But the frets are unfortunately plastic (I've tested my old Q10 with a knife, very plastic).

Still, the build is killer on the Q10. Especially a recently manufactured unlocked one.

They are painted plastic on the Verizon and unlocked versions.

T-Mobile SQN100-5 here... frets definitely plastic, but even with all-day texting and frequent drops on tile/cement this sucker is totally solid. No wiggles or anything. Only issue I've ever had with the hardware is the top left corner of the screen, which creaks on occasion.
