    Anyone else having this issue?

To start, yes i have changed the option in my settings to "only delete from handheld"

It seems if i delete a single item from the hub it will leave it on my server.

When i delete multiple items, is deletes them from both the server and my BB.

It also seems to act the same way on both my Microsoft and Gmail accounts.

10 point to you for finding a bug.
I can confirm this is an issue with 10.2.1.1925.

Additional info: The problem is also present if choose "Select more" and only selects a single email to be deleted. So the bug is related to the "Select more" function.

Just email a contact with detailed info and asked him to submit it as a bug. Not really the right way to go, but he's a second level device supporter, so I hope he can "fast track it".

Sorry reasonably new to CB, but love it. I used to have to figure this stuff out years ago by trial and error.

What do you mean by "email a contact with detailed info"

Been that way since os5, maybe before that too. When selecting multiple messages, hard deletes are processed.

Is this also the case if you set it to Prompt, in the new release?

As i recall, yes. I don't delete ANYTHING from the handset. All my deletions and filings are handled from the desktop client. But even pre OS 10 handled in the same manner. I would say to test, just take 2 messages of no importance, and delete them with the prompt option enabled and see what happens.

I just ordered the Q10 which is not here now so I don't have the device yet to test. Can anybody else please confirm that if this feature really does not work as with the older BB?

I just did 2 messages from the handset, after setting to Prompt, I was not prompted to select either hand or hand and server, and the items deleted from the handset ONLY. I made sure the items were still viewed in my Hotmail account and on Outlook. They were still there. Seems hard deletes were removed from the handset.

Waited for 2 minutes and refreshed web Hotmail and the 2 messages were gone. Must take a bit to sync back to the server. Sorry. My test showed the hard delete still in effect.

WTF is going on and why have others previously reported that it worked on the leaked version ?

Can you please also test deleting one message at a time with it set to prompt? Delete on from server and then another one just from handheld and see what really happens.

Deleting one message at time works fine even without the prompt if the settings are set to delete on wireless only.

A "hard delete" had nothing to do with the handheld in the old BES 5 days.

A "hard delete" was defined as an email being deleted instead of being moved to the "Deleted items folder". BES had to rescan the mailbox and compare with an internal list, to see "what was missing" and the replicate the "missing emails" as deletions to the handheld.

I have always asked for my emails to be deleted on the server, so I have no memory of this issue being present on legacy devices.

    Yes. Prompts are also dismissed.

This was my response from BlackBerry:

I was able to reproduce the described behavior with both the Handheld Only and the Prompt settings. When choosing Prompt, the action of deleting a selection of email items bypasses the Prompt. The demonstration with the Prompt setting shows that this is a device action problem and occurs independent of the email account protocol or mail system environment/version.

I have logged a defect for this: JI 590755
I have requested the next release of 10.2.1 for the Requested Target, but Development will need to digest the defect and determine when it can be resolved.

    BlackBerry is working on this.
I don't know how much info I can share, but in a few hours you should be able to read more on BlackBerry Knowledge Base KB35669.
