I'm not sure if anyone has tried this, but if you lock the screen with the power button, you can "wake it up" by pressing any numbered key 0-9, instead of the power button again. Any other key does not work on my Q10.

Why do I find this useful? I can look at the lock screen without picking up the phone and pushing the power button...say, if it's on the table, or in a cradle in the car.

This may not be a big deal for some, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Nice, it works even if the screen times out on its own.

That is useful. It'll be easier to set bedside mode now! Thanks.

I also just swipe my finger halfway up the screen. That wakes the lock screen up.
It's going to be nice once BlackBerry allows developers access to the lockscreen API's. Then we will be able to have more features on our lockscreen.

I also lock waking the lockscreen, as it is a quick and easy way to bring the phone into bedside mode.

From the lockscreen, all you have to do is swipe from the top, and your clock will come up and you will be in bed side mode. And you can turn on and off your alarm from there too.

Nice find! Less risk to drop the phone while walking and need to check the time. Holding it to swipe half way up or pressing the lock with your thumb makes me feel am gonna drop the phone

Actually I believe that option is made to make it possible for anyone to dial the emergency number (112) from the lock screen. Try typing 112, the phone will automatically ask if you want to make an emergency call.

Same if you do 911, it will ask if you want to make an emergency call.

Thanks, folks...it didn't seem like a big find, but I'm using it quite a bit to look at the time, check notification icons, etc...

I hope others find it useful.
