Sorry if this has already been asked but has anyone tried changing the back light color of their keyboards yet with the old tape/ sharpie method? I think I might try it but I was just wondering if anyone had some success with it.

you want colors like blue, red etc or just dimmer or brighter?
Bah, no never done that one before! I guess you'd have to take the phone apart.

This is a mod that has been done on previous generation BlackBerry phones (such as the 9700). Yeah, the phone would have to be taken apart.

That would be sick!!!

Yes exactly! I've done it on my bold 9000 and it was sweet, thinking about doing it in red to my "Q", "1" and "0" keys if your catching my drift... or all the number keys. :D I will try and post pics.

Oh yeah! I'll post pics if I get a chance to do it. Gotta look at tear down tutorials and what not.

Colors. Mostly likely red. I just think the red would clash very well with my white Q10

I would love to see pics of this, sounds like a neat idea

after reading these forums for years and seeing the Moderator-esque response "search and read," I present you:

A for effort.
Awesome reply. Little out dated but I'm sure the same concept applies! Thanks for the post and reference :)

You should do a how to video on youtube if you figure out how to do it. I would love to do the number keys on my Q10 in red!

FYI clash means the two colours don't go together well. I'm assuming you mean that the two colours would go very well together.
Clash: (of juxtaposed colors) to be offensive to the eye. Source
Offensive, yes... to stand out of course!!! lol but yes my wording was off. Thanks for the correction :)

Do you think someone could make an app to do this? It would sell like hotcakes!!!
Posted via my Q10
No, it's not possible. It's a hardware limitation. You can't change a hardware limitation by downloading software. That would be like "downloading more RAM".
That is correct... that would require all the backlit keys on the keyboard to pretty much be an led light kind of like the notification light. which I'm pretty sure they arent... but it would be cool if it was. if only :/

I didn't realize they weren't led lights... Shows how much I know about tech lol. It's why I wouldn't even attempt this without a video.

Would definitely love to see pictures of it - even the during pictures right until after...that would be cool... :-)
If anyone does attempt to do this please please do a tutorial on how to remove the Q10 keyboard properly. Thank you so very much.

Reminds me of the old screen bulb mod for Motorola pagers with colored sharpies
