Can somebody tell me if it is possible to change the keyboard from qwerty to qwertz? So the z will be the y and the other way around? Is that switchable in the OS or are the y/z keys fixed?
With older devices it was possible to swap the keyboard mat to the German keyboard if one bought an US/UK device. Maybe someone can provide me with information concerning the keyboard.

Otherwise I'll just get used to the different placing of the x and y key. I just can't wait until the device is released in Germany

Yes, it can be switched in the OS. But just wait a few days. The Q10 should be released very soon in Germany.

Thank you for your quick replies. I couldn't wait and ordered the q10 through a UK store - should be here until Saturday happy to hear the change is possible - just in case I can't get used to the z/y difference

This "switch in the OS" is not functional under OS10.1.0.238

I'm also really wondering if the change of physical keyboard will really change the layout, because there is not electronic component on the keyboard itself... I'll have to give back my fresh new Q10 and wait to have time to go back to Switzerland or Germany...

I have a similar issue, but am on 10.1.0.238. Does this mean the change should work, or it only works above this release?
Any other ideas on solving this?

There have been a couple threads on this. You will have to confirm with people that actually have the phone, but I think you need the physical keyboard for the country you are in and the software switch shown above does not change anything on a keyboard equipped BlackBerry such as the Q10.

I've updated to OS10.1.0.2309, the "Default Layout" menu is still not effective. However, I wondering if this menu will be one day useful (see BB help answer). This menu is working on Z10, I'm just thinking that BBRY developer forgot to remove it from Q10.



If you don't want your home country Q10 layout, better import a phone form abroad.

i switched the keyboard from qwerty to qwertz and set the layout to qwertz, but its typing it wrong (z/y) :-(

edit: is asked on the 10.2 leaked thread, and moodyk13 confirmed, that the layout-settings are effective on 10.2
