I recently posted a question about not being able to restore my contacts after getting my phone back from repair. Well, I finally got that resolved and I think that I was the cause of the problem all along.

Last year, in a fit of pique I named my phone (device) some silly. After I got it back from repair last week I decided to re-name it something a little more adult. After trying unsuccessfully to restore my contacts it dawned on me that BB Link might not recognize the new name and so I changed it back to the old one and was able to restore everything. I'm sure that there are some who are reading this that must be thinking, "what a Doofus" but I really thought the phone would be identified by any back up file by the PIN, not an anecdotal nick name that I gave it, but that does not seem to be the case.

Lesson learned!

Still didn't get my BBM contacts back but at least with the contact list back I can re-invite and go from there.

I'm surprised you didn't get your bbm contacts back as mine always come back when I sign in to bbm.

Never thought of that but Link does show the device name when connected. I use Link to back up my wife's and my Z10 s.

So the only difference being the names. Ie.

BlackBerry-A463F
BlackBerry-BBF01

Made up examples. But it makes sense.
