Carrier Version of 10.1.0.2309 Ruining Q10 Battery Life - Tips for Fixing?
I'm a new Q10 owner and new to BlackBerry (well, newish, the Q10 is the first BB I've used that isn't a locked down work phone), so I only recently discovered that the OS available to you is determined by your carrier.
I purchased my Q10 (SQN 100-3) SIM free primarily to avoid having any unwanted crap on my phone. My carrier is o2 Ireland; I stick with them because they provide fairly good customer service and great coverage near my home & work, but have resigned myself to their being pretty hopeless technically.
When I first unboxed the Q10 I updated over WiFi before putting in my SIM - I'm not certain what version I updated to, but I think it was 10.1.0.2309. Battery life was great and there was no carrier shortcut "app" or start screen on rebooting.
A few days later, BlackBerry Link told me I had an OS update waiting. I installed it and discovered that my phone had gained bloatware and branding but nothing useful. Worse still, it had gone from being able to survive for close 24 hours on a full charge down to about 8 hours.
I'm not particularly interested in installing a leaked OS (the only suggestions I could find when searching the forums) just the most recent unmolested version of 10.1 available for an unlocked Q10. If anyone could provide any tips on how this could be accomplished it would be very greatly appreciated.
