So long story short, I woke up one day and tried making a call. I couldn't hear anything so I put my Q10 on speaker phone and everything was fine. I just thought it was the other phone.

I made 2 other calls later in the day and same thing, I couldn't hear anything on the receiver.

I thought it might be a temporary problem so I rebooted my phone, reloaded the os, etc but it still doesn't work.

It was working the night before this problem and I don't know what may have happened/how I could fix it. Suggestions? (also, I bought the phone about a year and 2 weeks ago so it's out of warranty).

Tl;dr. Receiver doesn't work, headphones doesn't work, speaker works. What do I do?

Sounds like a hardware problem. If it is under a year old, you may need warranty work done to fix the problem.

Yeah I don't have warranty on it anymore :/ I guess I have to suck it up. Headphones aren't that bad but it's just annoying that I can't answer my calls immediately (would have to search for headphones or have everyone in the room hear my conversations)

Kinda sucks though, I didn't do anything to the phone as far as I could remember. The battery did run out...but next thing you know the receiver stops working. Thought this phone would last me a while too.

Try a hard reboot or backup, wipe and re-install O/S might help! Worth a shot! Nothing to lose except your time

Yup. Tried that too. I was hoping it was an OS issue but I guess not.

Is trying to fix the hardware issue myself not recommended? My warranty is up anyways...

I've dropped it many times before (with and without case) but this is the first time that the problem occurred out of nowhere.

You should run the BlackBerry Virtual Expert as well just to confirm your diagnosis.
