Hi there, as the title said, can unlocked verizon q 10 works in Australia? I don't care about lte though, as long as I get the 3g ,sms and call to work.

I have checked the verizon website and the gsm network band is compatible with Vodafone Au, I am just not sure whetehr they will lock it down when I use it oversea.

Please help, I am going to buy 1 and it is my first blackberry device ever.

May I ask why Verizon's I tend to go the UK route if I was to parallel import one.

Verizon's 3G is CDMA. So if the network you are using it on is GSM, then I believe you'll fall back to 2G only.

Talk/text shouldn't be any problem as it's quad-band GSM, it's 3G data that could be an issue. Verizon claims it can do UMTS/HSPA on 900 and 2100 MHz so if those are the frequencies that your carrier uses it "should" work. Nobody here in the US uses those frequencies though so I haven't heard of anyone actually doing it. Verizon phones are completely unlocked on the GSM side. Hopefully someone who has gotten it to work in real life will chime in.

I have got the information from this site,https://forums.crackberry.com/e?link...token=9DxG5l06
Networks: Digital Band 13 LTE (700 MHz), Dual Band 0,1 CDMA (850/1900 MHz)
Networks: Global: Quad Band 1,2,5,8 HSPA (2100/1900/850/900 MHz) Quad band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

This page is the vodafone au frequency, they support 2100mhz

Vodafone Support - Network coverage and mobile frequency

So I assume 3g is supported?correct me if I am wrong.

By the way, the worst case is I can only use 2g which I don't mind too. What I am more concern is will verizon lock the device down if I use it on other carriers? and can I still make normal call and sms?

This device I am buying is unlocked though.

I bought both my Storm & Torch here in Hong Kong both are Verizon phones unlocked and I did not have a problem with roaming anywhere in the world I went. I mainly run my phone 3G and no issues not even in Japan or Korea.
    Now Rocking with my Z10.

So I can conclude that, it shouldnt be any problem if I use this phone in Australia?

By the way, since I am not using CDMA network, should I care about the ESN?
