It amazes me that the Q10 is still $100 (Bell, Rogers) when the Z10 is free and the Z30 $50. Even the HTC One, the Samsung Galaxy SIII and other high end phones are free as well. Is it just for the keyboard?

    Any insight would be appreciated!

Everything should be free or even better they give you a 100$ gift card for BlackBerry World purchases.
Don't they want to spend on pushing their devices?

Exactly... how many other physical keyboard devices (that aren't cheap clamshell packaged pre-paid phones) do you see around the store? How many full touch screen devices?... yup

Unfortunatelly - I have contract equal of 150$ per month as well and even so I had to buy my Q10 for that price, what is regular street price. O2 does not offer it over here. All old BlackBerry special contracts were removed this fall, there is no roaming in the contract (we have to buy 250MB packages for EU), mails, BBM... all is charged per data. In past with BlackBerry Unlimited we had at least free e-mails across Europe - not anymore. Data plans are the same as for Samsung owners, iPhone owners or anybody else. Just the price of BlackBerry hardware is crazy high.

Q10 price over here is quite similar as Z30 - about 750$. Bold 9900 streetprice 400-600$.

So is funny to read prices around 100-200$ for the same hardware really..

Q10 has low profit margins vs any other BlackBerry cuz of the steel sides premium materials.

Z30 is actually 550$ at Telus employee web store while Q10 is still 650$

This is why I got the Q10 cause I knew it would hold its value against non-keyboard devices.

That's the whole purpose of getting a BlackBerry, it's the keyboard.

Wow, that really blows. So what's the purpose of the contract if not to subsidize the phones? At least here when you're stuck on a contract the carrier pays for part of the phone... I pais $200 for the Q10 when it first came out but don't pay any more per month than normal so they are subsidizing the phone, I'm just stuck with them for 2 years...

Luckily used prices for q10s are super low. They don't hold their value like iphones. Go ebay get one for 250.

Then with your carrier get an Iphone 5C for free and sell it for 500

Not to say BB can't pull itself out it's currently soiled bed but without some big hits it's not looking good....

I would have to totally disagree with that. My Q10 is waaaayyy more 'functional' than any droid or iphone I have ever owned - and I usually change phones every 6 month or so.
I throw mine on the table and in my pocket all day long and it still looks spanking new.
There is not one part of it that seems cheap or looks like an afterthought or a last minute put-together.
I payed in full for it and have absolutely no regrets :-)

Sorry to hear you're having such a bad user experience. Love my Q10, and wouldn't swap it for an iPhone. Never been so productive on any phone. BB10 multitasking and the keyboard just rock.

My name is Prem, I'm using BBM ... from my QuZe10 ...whatarhyme...
