I really don't use this screen often or find it helpful at all... any chance we can disable this screen so my first screen of apps is my primary screen? Any help would be fantastic. Thanks in advance!

You mean the active frames screen?
That's the only way to switch apps, so it can't be disabled. You can however clear it by closing all open apps when you're done with them. That would bring you to the first screen in your app tray.

Those aren't recently used apps. They are running apps.

    This isn't iOS/Android.

Those apps are actually running. You have to tap the X to kill them.
