I don't rember bb blend having you log into bbid before being able to use blend for bbclassic10. Is there no way to control your phone locally through that app without logging in? If not, that is very ********. Any and all advice welcomed

You need a BBID - which is being shut down in January.

I have one. I can't log in online or through the software. I used it before to transfer everything from one classic to another. I think I used it to go from a bold to the first classic. I don't remember needing to sign in before to use the software though. Has it always been this way? Maybe it's already shut down.

You don't have to pay for BBM on BB10.

BBMe for iOS/Android is not shutting down, however BBM for BB10 IS shutting down as that operates off of a different infrastructure.

I was confused because of the mention of bbid shutting down. bbm enterprise for Android requires bbid sign in.

Apparently there are two separate BBID infrastructures.

odd, the login info that I used was the same credentials as my bbid from my legacy BlackBerrys and then my BlackBerry 10 devices as well.

Correct. The info was copied over to the newer infrastructure for Android/iOS.

Yes both BLEND and LINK used BBID for security reasons to connect to a phone with the same BBID. Without a means of confirming your BBID across these device, they can't communicate with one another any more.

BBM on BB10 will just end as well. BBMe on Android and iOS will continue to function - but with even fewer people to message.

I'm starting to think a lot of people are going to have a bad Jan 5th.... can BlackBerry not send out a mass pin message?

I'll miss Blend. I stopped using it on my main desktop earlier this year because of the conflict with the VPN. But planned to resume on another PC. WIll never happen.
