Mmm not really. Both devices were released the same year and basically have the same specs. So i wouldn't really call it an upgrade. The Q10 has the keyboard obviously, has better battery life, has an AMOLED display vs the Z10's LCD (not better, some people prefer one or the other), and the Q10 has an FM radio built in to it's hardware so you can browse FM stations through the music application. Otherwise, the Q10 and Z10 have the same processor and they run the exact same. I would upgrade to the Z30!!

But if the keyboard is extremely important to you like it is to me, go for the Q10. Keyboard shortcuts and key speed dial is awesome

It's a matter of preference. Communication vs image! You have to know what you want.

This is a question you have to ask yourself. Keyboard or screen size (and all touch)?

The Q10 may be a little ahead of the Z10 hardware-wise but it boils down to how you want to use your device.

Overall, I've been very happy with my Q10 with regards to build quality and performance.

Since I can assume that you are not going for multimedia and watching videos when you want to upgrade to a Q, but rather for a great physical keyboard which a Q10 has. Therefore, taking into consideration that there is nothing comparable to it on the market, that the price for Q10 is quite low, compared to its original pricing, and its hardware is still quite good, I'd say that it is worth it! Never regretted getting a Q10 back in October last year.

Plus, I do not think Q10 will continue to loose its value as much as it did compared to its original price, so you will be always able to resell it when Q20 arrives!

Only down side is the keypad does fail and start double typing some letters after a few months. 6 months in my case sooner for some and not yet for others. It is the one flaw that holds me back from really pushing this phone. Got my wife a z10 because I found a good used one and she loves it. She thought she didn't want touch screen but told me today she don't want keypad anymore.

dont waste your mone for the same system only because of the keypad. iam using keypad bb since 2k and wont buy any touchkeypad version of it. but my keypad has some sensitive letters, which would not appear on the touchkeypad version. so i will buy a z30 next year i think. if i were you, i would wait before buying another nearly same hardware spec system only becaus of the keypad.

I own both devices but it's not necessarily an upgrade. It's two different devices with the same os.

The Z is more of a media oriented device. Where as the Q is the messenger like a blackberry always has been.

I really like the hardware keyboard of the Q. But im still not sure if it actually is faster than the virtual keys on the Z. Typing on hardware keys still feels great though.

I keep switching between devices. This week it's the Z but the Q is already sitting on the desk.

I own both, I would say the Q10 definitely has a more premium feel to it.

The Q10 was intended to be my daily driver during the week, and the Z10 for downtime. But I find myself using the Q even on weekends, it's a great device that runs BB10 so seamlessly. Keyboard shortcuts are a plus too!

Will miss the screen estate. Q10 is fun for a little while and a good phone. Now a days seems like we are always pulling up something up on the phone for work or to show a friend. Q10 has a built in radio though

I echo some of the posts with regards to the keypad and really it being what suits your needs. You can't really go one over the other spec wise and personally I wouldn't go Z10 to Q10 for an upgrade, I would have either got one or the other from the outset.
With the Z30 it would be an upgrade, I wouldn't class it as a considerable upgrade but sure if you want the much better graphics chip, bigger battery and bigger screen it most definitely is worth the upgrade. Most people I have spoken to have nearly always said when asked why the Z30 replied with 'because of the battery' as opposed to any other features.
