I created at new thread yesterday. My wifes phone started having problems on Saturday. when she types t, she gets yidt. everytime.

I was beginning to wonder if it was a problem with the 1.0.4181 that happened last week.
I saw your thread and considered pointing you here. Upon reflection I decided not to as I can't imagine how that could be connected. YIDT do not seem to be close enough on the keyboard for it to be the same hardware issue. It sounds software related.
Although you say it is not autotext it does sound more like something along those lines than what is being discussed here.

it's under the keyboard like this pictureAttachment 183068
I'm experiencing the same here. On letters "t" and "x". At first I thought it was me. Then I realized that those keys would trigger without being fully pressed. Just a light touch triggers them. There is no keyboard sensitivity option on settings either, maybe software could fix that, but I really believe it's hardware related. I think the problem is on that keyboard paper.

I had someone to service my phone. What he did was to open up the phone, detach the keyboard from the phone and clean it up. Now, it seems that the double typing issue is gone.

They had that problem and I too on the 9900. Never heard of any other phone with this problem. New cheap keyboards? This is so darn annoying and why I went it the Z. 9700 for 2 years, not a problem, 9900 for 6 months, keyboard double pressing.

    Great...

So I guess there is no easy fix? I just don't want to send the phone back.
I will have to wait for weeks for this!
If I try to tear it apart to check by myself, I will definitely void my warranty, right?

    Right.

For me sending it back was worthwhile on two counts: 1) the fix is holding, 2) temporarily reverting to my 9900 made me realize how much I appreciate the Q despite the missing shortcuts.

I didn't have this issue while on 10.1, but noticed it when I upgraded to 10.2

It seemed to hit a number of people 5-8 weeks after beginning to use the Q.
It seemed to happen regardless of whether the OS had been upgraded or not.
How long have you had your device?

It's seems like that. It got me after about 2 or 3 months. I guess it's related to how much you use the keyboard.

Yet it seems only to effect a small percentage of users.
I wonder if we share any common areas of exposure that are unique.
The only unusual experience I had before mine went haywire was visiting a shop that was so dusty that when I left there was a coating of powdery dust all over me. I wonder if that could be connected.
Was anyone else's device exposed to such an environment? Does anyone work in such an environment? Just brainstorming here.

mine is still in the repair shop. I really hope we aren't looking at every 6-8 weeks back to the repair shop from on.

This kind of quality control has hit BB's bottom line when we all send the phones back surely...

My keys worked perfectly fine for over 2 yrs with my 9800. I have not changed my home/work environment or usage habits since. I'm inclined to say that quality control is poor.

Unfortunately, I can say the same regarding my 9000, 9700, 9800 and 9900. You are correct something is different here.

    It does not.
It is pretty clear that this is a hardware issue and not a software issue.
