i just turned my BB q10 on after a couple of years, it was working perfectly fine back then and now it turns on like i can see the keyboard light up but there's nothing showing up in the display and when the key backlight turns off and i tap the black screen the keyboard light goes back on, which means the touch is still working but nothing just shows on the display.

Sounds like the backlight on the screen has gone, you could try taking it to a repair shop but at this point you have to ask if it’s worth spending any money on such an out of date and end of life phone.

You could try and hook it up to a tv with an HDMI cable to see it that works, if you need any data off of it?

    Welcome to Crackberry btw.

Might try shining a flashlight on the screen as that sometimes can make it visible enough to see "something".

But if it's been a few years... I doubt you want to put money into it, as it less usable today than it was when you gave it up.

It's a trial and error thing using an autoloader....

A quick search here should get you the info on using an Autoloader a few times to remove it and the steps for setting the phone back up using the screen reader hack to move forward with the setup process.

There is a method on the forums using the latest autoloader and the screen reader to get into the phone.

When you get to the point where the screen reader is supposed to be reading about BBID but nothing is being spoken, that's the point when Protect causes problems.

When you get to this stage, remove the battery. Wait a minute, put the battery back in and try the Screen Reader process again.

If the screen reader still doesn't read the BBID, try another battery pull.

I had a Z10 that started working after 4 battery pull attempts. I have heard others with success after only 1 battery pull.

The nice thing is once you are past Protect at this stage, Protect is gone for good.
