Okay, so I bought a blackberry Q10 off kijiji today. I'm in toronto by the way. It is not unlocked yet and I want to unlock it. I have two questions:

    1) Is there any way to find the MEP code of the Q10?
    2) Is there a way to find out what carrier the phone originated from? When i power it on and off, it does not show any of the Carrier splash screens.

Heres some of my phone info:
    Model: SQN100-3

    Thanks a bunch guys!!

Rogers I'd say, and go to settings about and then hardware for the info you're looking for.

    Hi welcome to CB!

You won't get a splash screen as you would in previous BBRYs where it would always have the carrier's splash screen it originally came from. The info is on the OS and will show once the respective sim is in the device.

You can try searching the PRD (found on the box) to see where the device possibly originated...but judging from the SQN100-3 sounds like a Rogers unit as they are the only ones as far as I know using the 100-3 model for the 2600MHz band...

thanks for the quick responses guys. but I am on Bell, so if I were to unlock it, I either need the MEP or need the carrier. Is there anyway to find out for sure what the carrier is? Also, under "hardware" it doesn't show the MEP. and when I put in the SIM, it also does not show the MEP under any of the tabs.

I think rogers was the only canadian carrier to carry the Q10SQN100-3.

I am assuming you have already asked the seller and they are not answering back?

Like I suggested earlier... Google search the PRD (found on the box)... it would give you the carrier origin

It's located on the right side of the box (where you see the BlackBerry logo /barcodes, IMEI and PIN etc). It's also located on the device itself, beneath the battery.

Ok, if the google search was to no avail... you can ask CB members who have bought a Q10 they can simply check the box and try to match their PRD with yours. I've seen some do this with regards to the Z10 and it worked. I myself had the same PRD as the user who was enquiring about the unit.

Post a thread asking for help regarding the PRD.

Other than that, you can try inserting a Rogers sim card to see if it accepts it (if its the wrong sim... you won't get any network activity). Only problem is Rogers unit would work with Fido sim cards and vice versa. But you will lessen the odds. Also, seeing that it is the SQN100-3 it's more than likely a Rogers model specifically for that 2600MHz band they've been promoting "LTE MAX"
