I can't say anything about the z30, but coming from windows, as nice as it is, There is so much that's better about bb10. As a companion device, it would be great, but from my experience, I could never go back to windows after my q10.

Either a Surface RT or Surface 2 would make a great companion device for a Q10. Both come with Office (including Outlook) and good PDF apps. You would get more use out of them than a PlayBook, and both are good values vs an iPad or Mini when you consider that Office is included.

I like my PlayBook. Hoping for a q10 from work next month and I feel I'll be using the screen on my PlayBook a fair bit more than I have been lately; z10 screen is big enough for pdf docs for me.

You should definitely get the ipad mini as a companion device. It's small and light. It's also good for media consumption and will fill the gap of the apps if you use any that you can't work on your Q10.

Z30 is a great companion if you also need another phone.

If you don't need a companion device as an additional phone then I suggest an iPad mini. You can go retina or not. Sure retina has ridiculous screen but if using it for files like PDF's you don't really need the retina.

Skip the ipad.

Either use a PlayBook (ultimate companion for any BlackBerry device because of Bridge) or Surface 1 or 2 Pro.

I use a surface 2 Pro as a laptop / desktop replacement at work because I unfortunately still need windows at work sometimes... At home I use my PlayBook. I enjoy both quite thoroughly

I took the plunge and got the Z30. Having one device for everything is really nice! I was afraid I would miss the Q10's keyboard, but it's manageable. Happy Z30 user now!

I use an ipod touch. There are one or two games i play and when I'm out of a Wifi zone i just enable a hotspot and can continue gaming for a short period.
