How much data does BBM consume?

I signed up for a 100mb/month data plan which I plan to use solely for BBM. I assume that regular 1:1 chats will not be a problem but what of groups?

How's it free Slff? Downloading files via BBM won't eat up my data plan?

My wife's been having problems with BBM going nuts at night - loads of data use, then a flat battery.
    No BBM contacts or conversations.

Try reloading the software. Or at least a security wipe. Just make sure to back up your phone with link

Device monitor says BBM is using a lot of battery? I've never looked to see what 'normal' is.

Thanks Slff. I don't suppose you can tell me if 100MB/month is enough for BBM alone?

I have noticed that the battery gets drained faster as well compared to the first few days when I was not using BBM. Not sure though if it's the app, the phone getting a data connection, or if it's the wifi radio, or a combination of the three.

BBM is hard on the battery, always has been, as for the amount of data I think it depends on how much you use it and how many groups your in and if you loading pics and stuff. It seems pretty light to me but I have a couple of groups , and usually use my BBM everyday but I would think you would need at least 1gig of data at the least

Ps: in bbos7 it would have been because that was compressed data but on the new devices it's not.

I guess I'll have to play it by ear (no pun intended) for now. But I can safely assume it consumes less data than Skype, yes?

    Hullo Slff.

Like requested, keeping you posted on this. Since posting, I used roughly 50Mb-55Mb on BBM alone; I have 2 contacts and subscribed to 10 channels. Hope this helps!

If you are using just bbm, 100mb will easily last you the month. I'm currently on a 100mb contract and I use BBM, whatsapp when I'm not on wi-fi and I don't have any problems with data running out. With that being said. BBM channels does chew through a lot more data than just regular chats
