Since the Q10 is starting to go on sale, and more people here should be getting their hands once one, I hope that one would eventually post up this. I never had an issue with my 9900 dying prematurely, but I have been caught just a little short on my Z10 on a long day. Hopefully that little extra juice and black theme on OLED would help push this just a little further to be able to last a day of heavy use.

If you look at the "CB Team's Q10 Review" it says that the Q10 has a 2100mAh battery which is 70% bigger than the 9900 (1230mAh). Add this a quite similar screen and better 10OS with Black theme and you will have a good battery life.

Hope it will help to clarify the situation.

    Cheers from Barcelona! ;-)

The screen on the 9900 was smaller than the one on the Q10 (2.8 inches vs. 3.1 inches). But it has a better optimized OS and more energy efficient hardware so that makes up the difference.

I've been using this Q10 (my second one) for about a week, at work, at home, etc.

Battery life on my Bold 9900 was about a day. Wake up with it fully charged, and by bedtime it was between 10 and 20%. I typically send emails, check/read feeds (RSS), do some moderate web browsing, and that's about it. The occasional video but I have a PlayBook for media consumption when I'm at home and a computer when I'm at work. I barely ever used wifi as I had a 6GB data plan and was content with the speed of HSPA+ here on Telus.

With the Q10, I've been using it for more or less the same stuff. I find it lasts about the same amount, to be honest. Fully charged when I wake up, finishes the day around 20%. I've been using wi-fi though because LTE heats up the phone and my data plan has dropped to 1GB (I never went over in the past so I changed it to save some cash). I don't know why wi-fi would consume more battery than LTE, does that make sense? I'll try running only on LTE for a day or two and see what happens, and similarly, only on HSPA+/3G and see what happens.

So far though, this is really UNimpressive for me, given that the battery is almost twice the size and that the screen is an OLED.

Does the battery for the q10 get really warm/hot? Battery lover shows my battery at 37degrees Celsius. I have a BlackBerry soft case with my q10.

Mine gets hot when doing intensive actions like streaming video. Very hot, and I'm not happy about that.

    Hi

I live in the UK, I have a 9900 and so do my colleagues and one of my friends. I found a cheap 2650mAh battery on eBay... Cost < GBP 6 inc delivery... WOW! Original battery would die half way through the afternoon, this one still has 60% at 11pm when I pop it back in the charging dock. I bought one for my friend and my work colleagues are all using the same battery now.

Give it a whirl, it's truly amazing:

Q10's battery is leaps and bounds better than the 9900. My 9900 would die halfway through the day and I had to carry around a second battery, but the Q10 is still alive at 11:00PM unplugged at 5:30AM. It's truly amazing.

My last device was a 9900. My Q10's battery clearly outshines my old 9900.

9900 needed several charges a day for how I used it. I did all work communications (email/text/call/etc) with it. That was a major power drain.

With the Q10, I use it in pretty much the same way as the Bold but I have to charge maybe 2 times a day if I really go hard on it.

I am really having a hard time seeing how people are draining their Q10s! This phone has the best battery out of any phone I have had ever. I work in IT shooting emails, texts, calls all day. I run it hard! And I have yet to kill it in one day! at 10pm im still at 20% on the worst of days.

The Q10 battery is quite lasting for me. It lasted 24 hours once for me and I was left with 14% of battery before I went to bed. I was running on 3G.

    - Approximately 7 hours of music (Neutron)
    - 17 hours normal usage (email, whatsapp, surfing)

So, I can say that the Q10 battery is quite reliable.

I was constantly charging my 9930 on heavy use work days (mostly text, gchat, emails and the occasional FB/Twitter check.) By the time I got home around 5 pm, the 9930 would already be in the yellow/red battery zone. (Average battery life on 9930 on one charge: 9-11 hours) Of course I have a car charger, and on nights/weekends when I knew that I'd be away, I would carry my spare battery and top off as much as possible.

With my Q10, doing pretty much the same as above, I only need to plug in the charger at night. There ARE times when I'm using the heck out of my Q10 and the battery drains maybe an hour faster but still, only 1 charge. I average around 14-16 hours on ONE charge on my Q10. As I've stated in previous battery life topics, the key is to top off as much as you can, especially if you know you're gonna be out and away from a power source for a long time. I don't plan on buying a spare battery for my Q10 because the battery lasts long enough. Of course, ANY phone will die faster if you're streaming music/YouTube videos, playing games, and constantly checking/updating Facebook for an extended period of time.

Yeah, my Q10's battery performance doesn't even compare to battery life on my 9900. I can nearly go a day and a half on my Q10 before charging, and that is with good moderate use.

For my usage, the Q10 last about 14 + hours, I rarely have to charge it throughout the day. My 9900 would last anywhere 8 to 12 hours, I would often charge it during the day, just to make sure I would have plenty of power for the unexpected.

I haven't changed my habits over the years of owning a cell phone but, I definitely don't plug in the Q has frequently. Currently 7.5 hours of usage and battery is at 75%. I do charge it every night though regardless of power left.

I've had the 9900, & now Q10; battery on the Q is better, but try & stay away from Spotify; it kills your battery
I keep my WiFi, & 4G, on all day, & with nominal usage, get about 15 hrs., of fun.
That includes, email, txt, music, internet etc.

Hey guys I just wanted to ask which battery life is longer the BB Q10 or BB 9900 ?

now I know the BB Q10 is a bigger battery, but it got double the CPU power + bigger screen + the OS seems to pull more power then OS7

I just want to know if the Q10 battery will last longer than the BB 9900 battery
    Hi Salue,

I get about one and a half days work out of my Q10, before that I used my 9900 for the same things and needed to buy a desk loader to keep it up speed. It did not make it through the day.

Similar usage: my Q10 lasts at least 25% longer than by 9900 did. Except during the 48 hours after an upgrade when the battery drains before my eyes.
