Recently my Q10 battery has been draining rapidly. Some days are better than others. On the worst days the phone gets very hot and the battery drains in 4 or so hours with little activity. Right now I am 73% charged and my phone says I have 4 hours of battery life left.

I cant figure it out. I am running 10.3.2.556. My battery usage looks like the following: PIM Services 2.9%, Display 2.8%, System 2.6%, Text 2.4% and several other things listed at less than 2%.

Any ideas as to why my battery doesn't last?

The phone occasionally has rough days as well where I dont receive texts, some contact names dont show up - just the numbers, and other quirky things.

Any ideas? Any tips to clean it up a little? I really like this phone but it is becoming a hassle.

Whish there was a non-destructive way to clean up a BB10 phone.

I just alway reload the OS when it starts to really act up. And it might not hurt to go ahead and update the OS too....

Check your app permissions. And read the numerous existing threads on the subject. You will learn how to reset your battery estimated time left and how to use the phone (and anything running on battery) so it's efficient.

    Good hunt !

Key items - Uninstall all Android apps that you do not really use especially social media apps.
Go to Security - App Permissions - Choose the group that Run when Minimized and turn off that choice for all but essential apps
Also go to Security - App Permissions - Choose the group Run in Background and turn off that choice for non essential apps
Your battery life and performance should now increase significantly.

If you have a micro SD card, try removing it for a day or so and see if the battery drain stops. I saw a case where a micro SD card that had not been a problem caused battery drain. The SD card still worked from a storage and retrieval standpoint but suddenly started causing battery drain. Once we narrowed down the problem to the micro SD card, replacement with another micro SD card permanently fixed the problem. Another battery drain issue I have seen with the Q10 has been the need to clean the earphone jack with compressed air. The earphone jack problem caused other symptoms in addition to battery drain such as during a phone call constantly switching between speaker phone and handset speaker. So, ask yourself if there have been any other strange things happening and if so, it might point you to the problem.

Battery drain is an ongoing issue here to. I have all but the absolute necessary apps running in the background.

Check this thread about battery "management", the 3rd post .

Start to reset your battery estimated time (aka Calibration reset), and don't charge and use it at the same time. I let you read the thread advices

    1. If encryption is on, then turn off. Try turning back on at a later time.
    2. Remove old WiFi profiles.
