"Your mileage may vary--" I am not a heavy Social Media individual (I don't have The Facebook), prefer to consume the Internets with a real keyboard, a big monitor and an old techonology called a computer-pointing device (though I do have a Playbook). That all said, it's probably because I only email, text, BBM and What's App folks. I did not make or receive any phone calls during the 8 hour period, so that may also have helped. I will see how accurate the forecast is, though, as I am testing today from a plug-in overnight.

No bluetooth, wi-fi calling on, wi-fi on, etc. So, no special settings. Unless you consider the attached a "special setting"-- but it more represents how I feel right now than anything!

There is an "ALL BLACK" which makes the "gray shadow" disappear. I have some Chinese Characters in white font (I'll take the battery hit!) that spell out Hong Kong (where I once lived). Posting both. It is a "deep" black, so should show very little-- but you do need to de-clutter, because clutter looks weird on all black. That's why I am diligent about using folders.

Here's where I was around noon today-- remember, I started Sunday morning and it's now Monday, St. Patrick's Day...

• 30+ hours
• Medium to Heavy (for me) usage-- a bunch of news last night, morning commute "phone staring", email and WhatsApping with the int'l friends
• Supposedly, 52% [ 1 day and 2 hours left ]

Here's the Detail. From above, it is noteworthy that my System uses more power than my Display (63% more drain). I've seen other folks have those flipped or tied.

Dang, your mileage will DEFINITELY vary. But that said, I use this similarly to how I used my iPhone 5, 4S, Prada Phone 1, 2, and 3...and my previous BlackBerries (Bold, Curve, Storm 1 and 2, even an 83xx something!) but never have I been able to skip a night. I could have turned it off when I went to sleep, but kept it on for this experiment. Technically, if I keep this up, there's got to be a long-term benefit of charging it 50% less than necessary (as in every other night as needed.)

We'll see how long I am in BEAST MODE tomorrow...! If I last!

And my dang friend in France keep WhatsApping me pictures and sending me browser links (DRAINS)! I gotta tell her to lay off the sauce, I'm in a race (hehe)

Since we are talking about battery usage here. To what % do you guys wait before you recharge your Q10? I was told that in order to expand your lithium battery life. You must wait until there's 1% juice left. Are you guys in a habit of recharging your Q10 before you go to sleep ( bedside mode )

I have on worry-- what if I last more than 48 hours???? With 34%, I will surely last the night until 5:30am Tuesday...what will happen to the counter? Device Monitor goes "Since Last Charge" then "Last 24 Hours" then "Last 48 Hours" in presumed increasing order of time...what if Last Charge is OLDER than 48 hours?

I guess we'll find out!

My Q10 is only a month old, battery is OEM. Your 48 hour probably includes a charge somewhere in between (you'll see a spike, probably last night when you plugged in.) That's why your usages add up to over 100% (your Display and System alone are 99%).

You must have a picture for a wallpaper with lots of colors or brightness, as your display takes up twice the power of your system. Notice on mine, the system takes the most. Not sure why, but suspect it's the black-ish wallpaper.

See picture below-- click on icon in red circle, and that will bring up a dialog box to "Insert Image"-- just make sure you in the From Computer tab and "Choose File" to search your computer, select your pic, and then you will come back to the dialog box. Then just click "Uploade Image" and you're all set!
