I was looking on ebay for Q10s, and noticed one interesting thing - the Q10 motherboard, which is essentially the phone, goes for around $30-50. The rest of the parts (screen, keyboard and chassis, etc.) can be found for $50-100, and the battery is about $30. It's pretty clear where I'm going with this.I have absolutely no issue performing the assembly myself, since I've done many repairs on my 9900, including essentially swapping motherboards.

My question is, am I missing something? The only thing I can think of is screws, which could possibly be included with some of the parts. Any ideas?

UPDATE: I'm not doing it, I was mistaken - motherboards aren't just available for sale like that. Would have been very cool tho.

You wouldn't be saving much money... you can get a new q10 for about 250 with warranty....

You're also assuming every part you get is good on the first try.... most times I find the black middle piece that has the speaker isn't good... speaker rattles....

No screws come from the spare parts themself... I think there's a UK ebay seller that sells just the screws...

    I wouldn't do it IMO

Where did you find the motherboards? All I can find on ebay for that price range are "no pin", blank replacement boards that must be programmed with a new pin and imei

haha yes, I somehow overlooked that and thought there was more to choose from, turned out there was literally just two available. I guess if it was an actual regular part more people would be considering it.

You wouldn't happen to have a motherboard, would you? Haha

Another option is to buy one with a working but cracked screen and negotiate down, then buy a screen online.

Sorry the motherboard I have keeps looping during the reboot at random percentages but I have a brand new screen, mint keyboard, mint back piece, mid frame and camera lens cover as well as the part that covers the motherboard but I am missing a couple screws

I guess it's possible but I doubt it's the same quality components that BlackBerry used.

They just keep popping up for such low prices that I don't think it would be worth even trying to build it yourself. There's a promotion code here in the forums that gets you the Q10 unlocked with warranty from shopblackberry.com for $299 USD. Plus that Groupon deal for $249 USD.

But you don't have the thrill to assemble it by yourself (which, on the Q10, it's pretty hard - I already opened it for changing the keyboard and it's a bit too difficult for my tastes)
