My old Curve set the bar pretty high. That thing was indestructible ... multiple falls, it got wet a few times, and the keyboard never malfunctioned.

I took it as a given a BB keyboard would never malfunction. The Q10 issues I had were a complete shock, I have to admit. At first, I was in total denial, thinking it was a software issue. But not a thing I tried fixed it, except for having the keyboard replaced under warranty.

I do hope my case is the exception, and not the rule.
Did you start with a brand new unit? and how long after you owned the unit did it start happening?

Yes, use the Q10 for the keyboard, and of course because it is a BB. I purchased Z30 (both phones are unlocked) to try the BB experience on a glass screen. Have to say the Z30 is the BEST on glass experience, but it does not compare to the Q10. So, Q10 more for the weekday and the Z30 more for the weekends . . . although as always there are exceptions to the rule!

    Hello,

    I'm on the fence about a Nexus 5 or a Blackberry Q10.

The expandable memory, removable battery and the physical keyboard are the only reasons why I would be getting a BBQ10.

Is only getting a BB for the physical keyboard a good enough reason to buy one? Or should I just suck it up and get a software keyboard?

    Thanks
I am using the q10 because the keyboard, the size, the removable battery and the hub. still nothing better on the market now.

Ditto - bought the Q10 in August and the keyboard still works just fine.

I'm convinced there was a bad batch of keyboards made somewhere, because of the number of people who have the double-typing issue. This should be covered under warranty though, to either replace the phone (from a different batch) or repair/replace just the keyboard.

I've had mine since august and I haven't came across the issue

When I use mine, it is because of the keyboard mostly. I also enjoy the 'classic' appearance.

I have to say that if the Z keyboard didn't wow me at once, I would have returned it and waited for the Q while still enjoying the 99.

Brand new unit, and the issue started about 3 or 4 months in. At first I thought I was typing sloppily (lol), then I suspected software or OS issues.

But alas, it was the keyboard itself.

Perhaps it is worth mentioning I never dropped the phone, or got wet; it's been babied.

Blackberry is dead; long live Blackberry!

The keyboard is insanely easy to replace from the few breakdowns I have watched while contemplating doing a frame/bezel replacement on my Q10, a new keyboard on ebay is less than 20 bucks shipped.

Although it's easy ad you say, we shouldn't have to be swapping out keyboards every few months. That's totally unexceptable

I never stayed with the Q10 long enough to experience those problems. And they seem to NOT be isolated by what I've been reading here.

But I do hope that issue is resolved with the next keyboard phone cuz damn I miss it!!!....if they fix that and also make the screen just a tad bigger, I'll go back to it.

I have had mine that long to, almost a year. I guess I have gotten lucky with the keyboard.

I don't know if you guys are the exceptions or the norm, but to be considered lucky that my device is not having an issue that seems to be pretty widespread, that's like going to a casino and gambling....lol....still debating weather to stick to my z10 or get the q20 when it comes out.in the meantime, I'll just continue getting accustomed to my touch screen as I continue to indulge and opinionate here on CB

I agree with you 100%, but when it's the same issue every few months, it's a problem. My transmisin doesn't go out every 3-6 months, heck! I've never had a problem with my iPod 4!!!.....
