Been using Waze for a least 6 months now on my Z10 and love it. Since Im on the road a lot, I use it along with my Escort Passport MAX radar detector to warm me of police and speed traps. It's also good for letting you know what delays or accident are up ahead of you.

Waze is not available in BBW on the Q10. The images that I posted are from using the app called Snap on 10.2.1.1925. I downloaded the latest version of Waze .apk file and installed it directly.

    Thanks for being clear.

    How do I get snap?

    I'm on 1925 now.

This is the link to the latest version. Since it is a .bar file, you'll have to sideload it via whatever method is most comfortable to you. Once you have it installed, you won't have to sideload anything else again (except for updated versions of Snap if you choose to do so)

    Hope this helps.

Aside, since you're new to .1925, you might want to check out all of the settings to find the new features. If you're on BBM channels, do a search for Michael Clewley. If you follow his channel, he goes over the changes they added in the new OS.

I would get an older version. The latest version changed their fonts enough so that even with the smallest font setting on the q10, the Share route feature is completely hidden and you can't scroll. That's really what I use it for, is sharing my location, route and Eta with my wife or business associates.

For those who have noticed the Q10 heating up when using Waze, I'd just like to point out that my GS4 heats up when using Waze too. It doesn't appear to be the result of being ported to BB10.

For those on the Q10 are there shortcuts for using the parts of the app that don't fit on the screen, like reporting traffic, or map problems? I don't see a way of scrolling down to submit.

I'd be interested in the answer to this question. If you can't interact with the app, it's usefulness is limited.

the only thing i can use it for on the q10 is to update gas prices

the rest doesnt fit on the screen, and if i try to use it for navigation, it crashes

how can you see what's too long on the screen?

It is difficult to see anything that's too long for the screen but there really isn't much I can't do with it due to that. The only time it crashes on me is if I'm also on a phone call for at least 30 minutes and don't make Waze my active screen. Then it just quits and I have to launch again. Other than that, it works perfectly for me on current vzw official release 10.2.1.

I also figured out how to send my trip to someone, given that the buttons to send are below the visible screen. The key is to send your location BEFORE you start the actual navigation. Before I start the nav, I just share my location with whoever, then start the nav. The recipient can then see my trip details, est arrival and current location. I get the little check mark when they are viewing. Works great.

Oh yeah, the only other issue is that the estimated time of arrival is always five hours late, so my wife knows that and it shows minutes remaining correctly.

What about the popup menus? Do they work? Or the popups to confirm road hazards and that sort of thing?

One great thing about Wayze is normal users update what's going on around them regarding traffic and road conditions.

When planning a trip I'll use either BBMaps, Wayze, GoogleMaps, or a combination of all three just to make sure I'm getting the best information. Of the three I mentioned, BBMaps is the only one that doesn't give the option to plan alternate routes.

Yep, work perfectly. Can also hit the thanks, not there and dismiss buttons. Someone reported a pothole and if I didn't see the alert, I definitely would have hit it. It was so big it would have probably dented a wheel given my speed.

Thanks for the info. I liked Waze on my Z10, and I often use it on my S4 instead of Google Maps. I don't have a Q10, but I'm still teetering, especially if I can get one for a good price. If I do get one, I'd like to be able to use Waze, and a few other apps, such as Kindle, that aren't in BB World for the Q10.

I never used the feature to send ETA to someone, so that's not a problem for me. But the distinctive feature of Waze is the crowdsourced traffic and road condition info. I wouldn't want to give that up.

I assume it causes the Q10 to get very warm. It also causes my S4 to heat up.

Nope, not at all. And it doesn't seem to drain any more battery power than any other nav app I've used including BlackBerry maps and google maps. I've forgotten my car charger now and then for a rental car, so I've had to use several times without charging. I have a hard wired proclip in my car, so battery is never an issue there.

Interesting. If I'm not mistaken, Google now owns Waze. I wonder if they plan to merge map info. In another thread, I reported a case where Waze was able to find a business that Google Maps failed to find.

I wonder if Google will update Waze for BB10. I know it's not in BB World for the Q10 but it is, or at least was, for the Z10. I don't remember whether it was updated before the Google acquisition. Apparently the time zone error (unless you happen to be in the Greenwich time zone) hasn't been fixed.

Not a chance. Would have had a better chance getting before the buyout. Google doesn't make a single app for bb10.

Ironically, I noticed last night that Waze no longer works on my S4. It force closes shortly after starting, even after uninstalling and reinstalling. It's probably related to the KitKat update. Anyway, I won't mind trying an older version on the Q10.
