I've had my BlackBerry for about a week now, and I haven't had the desire to side load any android apps. I was just curious if anyone else dose this? Truth be told the only app I'm missing really is some kind of Spotify service. Everything else I'm using is native or comes from BlackBerry World. I mean I was never really much of an app guy to begin with, but after going through BlackBerry world I've been able to find decent third party apps that work great for the things I do use.

I totally agree with you, I also don't have any side loaded apps on my devices , I find they really do affect the phone in minor ways, hopefully the new 10.3 will make the runtime that much better for the people that do side load.

I've had/have a Z10, Q10, and Z30. I bought each phone on product launch date. I've always used original carrier OS and only updated when the carrier updated and have never side loaded any apps. So I've never used an autoloader, Sachesi, etc...nor have I loaded Snap, Amazon, etc.

I use my phone(s) 99% of the time for communication. Only apps I even have downloaded are CB10, LinkedIn, and Bleacher Report...that's it.

I only sideloaded the Snap application recently. Now all I do is just use my Q10. Often times if I don't use an application.. it goes bye bye until needed again. However the chrome extension allows one to terminate a frozen application the device monitor cannot end/stop when it locks up, ie. the hub.

Totally agree with the OP here, there's no need to side load Android apps as there's always a possibility of things going wrong - e.g. battery drain, etc.

I run very few android apps. Netflix showbox teamviewer and an app that lets me use my Z30 as a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for my laptop called blue touchpad.

I tried side loading a couple of apps, they looked like garbage and the screen was too small so all the fields like where I would enter a username / password were hidden so I stopped even thinking about side loading. it's utter crap

Firstly, the only app one would need to sideload is Snap. From there you can directly download and install from your phone, no need to sideload.

Secondly, it depends on the app. I have Netflix, my banks app and they both work and look great.

I wish to go all native, but some developers just won't create a native app. Besides some apps which I really need unfortunately are not on BlackBerry World at all.

these kinds of post always bait me in. I click the post thinking I'm going to receive some beneficial, technical, informative reason why the person doesn't install android apps, sideload, or use apks..etc. Only to find out the person isn't into apps to begin with...well duh,

Low desire in apps or low app use probably means low desire or need for sideloading, snap, apks, etc.

I wonder if OP means sideload as in actually sideloading or if he means installing android apps.

BB world is basicly dead as per BB management so there's no real reason not to side-load anymore. It seems almost no apps are truly native and you always get the stupid bar no matter what.

True believer of native apps. What's the point buying BlackBerry phone when we all keep pressing BlackBerry to improve the runtime so android app run smoothly while ignoring own native development. This is what killing bb indirectly. Do you know android apps can access certain phone features more than the native apps itself. This is how BlackBerry is losing directions by focusing on wrong direction.

do you have examples of this? What specific features can android apps access that native apps can't?

I have this discussion with my fellow developers before but I can't remember which forum. It's something about location I guess. I can't remember.

Not the only one...I don't do that myself. I only load apps available thru BlackBerry World.

Never investigated how to, as I never had a desire nor need for it. But that's just me.
