50 bucks on a two year contract is my max.

Looks like I'll be waiting for a refurb on AT&T, just as I did for my Z10 - which was a $45 refurb. And my Torch 9800 before that was a 1 cent refurb that lasted me almost three years.

For an Android phone. I won't go above 25 bucks USD. Unlocked. No contract.

And that's because I can use it in some of my cheap robotics projects.

I'll be getting it on a 2 year contract, but I wouldn't spend more than $350 CAD maximum. I'll hope for it to be under $300 with carrier discounts, otherwise I might look at a different Android phone instead.

It's $749 US according to the pre-order on the BlackBerry shop.

Comparing it to Nexus 6P, they have similiar specs (while Nexus 6P is slightly better), similar OS (while Nexus 6P may be slightly better because it's mashmellow), the ecosystem.

The difference is the slider formfactor, PKB, security features only available on Priv.

The price difference is about $200.

So you are buying the PKB, the slider form factor, the security features of Priv for $200, on the top of $550 you paid for the hardware, OS, ecosystem, etc.

I'm afraid you're preaching to the choir, mate, as I'm not buying the Priv, not at $749 or any other price, except perhaps at $100 a few years from now so that I can have it as a curio of BBRY's last handset. Presently, I'm torn between the 6P (I use loads of Google apps and services) and the Lumia 950 (love Hello and the Continuum feature), while the fiance got the 5X. My post was the let others know where the device came in, not a letter of intent.

Is the assumption that it won't be upgradable to Marshmallow in the future?

In Android consumer space, people who accept this value proposition will be rare in my opinion.

This is a test for Android buyers in corporate space, or, the buyers who wants ecosystem and security at the same time. This is not about if the demand exists or not, but how strong is this demand.

The pricing is not personal guys, it's a cold hard business decision, may follow up with an even colder one for us BlackBerry fans.

Yeah it will, not sure how soon though. The locked one will be slow for sure. Even the unlocked one may be delayed because it can't be coming straight from Google like Nexus line.

You guys make me laugh. You know you're all buying it no matter how much it costs.

When the price of Crack goes up, the junkies complain but they find the money somehow. Same thing with you guys

I know. I am not convinced by it neither. Can't see myself retiring my Passport for Priv at that price. My interest in this device now is mainly the fate of this company, not much more.

Yeah, it's lower than the list prices for iPhone and Sammy phones, higher than most of the other Android phones from LG HTC Huawei Moto etc.

My upper limit would be 599 (approx $680) to buy outright, although I have a contract expiring with Vodafone Italy expiring first week of December so might wait and see what they have to offer.
