With Priv, our commitment is to continue to provide confidence that your privacy and productivity come first. In todays hectic world where cyber threats are real for everyone, BlackBerry is making sure that our products invoke this mantra that your privacy is your privilege.

Priv will be the solution for smartphone users who are learning daily of the lack of privacy they have on their current devices. Priv will be the answer for former BlackBerry users who miss the physical keyboard but needed apps. And, were responding to current and prospective BlackBerry users who need it all: choice, innovation, security, privacy and productivity.

Whats unique about our Android phone is that we are collaborating with Google to bring the best of BlackBerry security and productivity to the Android ecosystem.

    Hello,

Ok, I'm gonna say that's something. Not sure it's going to fly, but I'll give props to the effort...basically just for existing at this point.

It is pronounced [ priv ] (NOT [ praiv ]) according to Media Relations department.

#BlackPrivilege sounds like something Kanye West would use for his Yeezy 2020 presidential campaign.

It sounds like our privacy is a privilege. It's not, it should be a right. Driving is an earned privilege, having nice things are privileges earned or bestowed in, but privacy should be a right. Or am I wrong?

I doubt that there is true privacy on an (almost) stock Android (= Google) device.

This, exactly! I've had issue with their "privacy is your privilege" statement ever since I first read it. Privacy is my right, not a privilege. Privileges can be revoked, rights cannot.

I think it means that you will be one of the privileged few who have privacy. As most IOS and Android users typically don't.

How much security does the average person need, anyway? And, is BlackBerry really in a position to make me less vulnerable or is simply like a panic room in my house - useless unless I stay home.

I wouldn't bet on any platform. What I wanted to say: Privacy on a Google device is something that doesn't work. Google earns money with user and usage data. To do so is ok but because of that the Priv cannot provide privacy to the extent BB wants to sell it.
Privacy for enterprise customers with BES: yes, but not for the consumer market.
