- No idea, could go any way. I am hopeful it will be slightly cheaper than Rogers because I have been eyeballing the G4 for a while and WIND has been pretty strange with it's pricing lol. They originally listed it at $700 but with a limited time sale of $650, then they randomly just put it at $650 original price after a few weeks. Last week, it was $599 but returned to $650 regular price yesterday. Rogers has had it at $700 since it came out. But WIND is more expensive for the Leap ($399 vs Rogers $350) and both offer the Classic at the same price.
I'm just guessing but if the phone is $799 like at Rogers, the WIND Tab price would be $699 like the Note 4. If you don't mind being "locked" into an itty bitty tab for 2 years to save a few dollars. I believe if you have a grandfathered plan, your tab without boost may be larger.
Did anyone else get a customer appreciation text from WIND btw? It's like they know I want the Priv or something...10-23-15 07:13 PMLike 0 - 10-23-15 07:15 PMLike 0

Also, you'd have to give Rogers an extra $57 to unlock the phone, so yeah it would probably be better to cancel the reservation and get it through WIND. I've heard that the resellers don't get the unlock codes for a few weeks/months, so Rogers will be your only option for a bit. I'm pretty confident that WIND will either offer it at the same price as Rogers, or $50 less/more. Not more than that. It really may be worth waiting. I'll probably call WIND next week and see if someone will tell me how much it will cost to buy outright...10-23-15 07:26 PMLike 0 - Question: does rogers take your full amount before you get the phone, or do you pay when you get it at the store. If WIND does sell it for the same price, can I just cancel it and not worry about Rogers taking the money.?10-23-15 07:33 PMLike 0
- I've been with WIND in Calgary for 4+ years. Avoid calling customer service at all cost, but otherwise they have been great. I am a very heavy user (5+GB Data, 5000+ Texts, 30+ hours calling per month) and my Telus/Bell bills routinely exceeded $200.00 a month. Now I pay $40 and never worry about a thing.
The only phone that I have used that was sketchy was a 5S. My Bold, Z30, Classic, HAM2 and Note 5 have all been great. BlackBerry has the strongest signal by far. Study the coverage area and make sure you won't be leaving it routinely (where you would actually be using data). I believe the drop calls is more a phone issue than the network, at least out west anyway.
As for the Priv , Yes it will work on WIND but I believe you need the -3 variant (it seems to cover everything) .

- I totally agree with you. I used to be on Wind Mobile and their coverage was really good until I moved to a new neighborhood where it's a dead zone especially inside my house. I switched to Public Mobile and their network has improved greatly since it's now owned by Telus.
Their 30-day plans are not much to brag about BUT their 90-day plans are a big bang for the bucks! I'm thinking of just signing up for the 90-day data only plan and use Fongo to have free calls US/Canada wide & pay $1.99/month for texting. Or just pay for data and use a combination of WhatsApp/BBM/Skype. I'm currently on an old Public Mobile plan before Telus purchased it and it only costs me $25/month without data so I would only need to purchase data as an add-on: 1GB of data carries on and lasts me approximately 6 months of usage because I'm mostly on WiFi and use very little amount of data to when I'm outside.
Hence, I'm only going to buy my phones outright from now on and go with whatever that's cheaper and would never pay $70+ per month for a phone bill.
Public mobile offers great deals especially if you use their 90 day plans it was bought out by Telus so the signal is great and it's LTE. It's now a sim only provider you bring your own device.

- And actually I just found out Wind's unlock is just $30... so could be a hedge if in case it is initially not third party unlockable, I've seen cases for this.

- There is one classified ad on HoFo for the Priv, $9 USD:
How To Unlock BlackBerry Priv By Unlock Code To Work With Any Network
Not sure how reliable though.10-24-15 10:27 AMLike 0 - I'm just curious, I'm done with Bell. I need more data and we pay so much. So I am curious to know if Wind mobile will get the blackberry Priv (canadian company) also wind sometimes has the contract cheaper. The passport was not with Wind but the Priv is trying to sell a lot more so what do you think/know?

- I dropped Bell for Wind.
Got the $40 deal with unlimited data (5GB allotment).
If your using it for business bad move.
If for personal, you should be fine in the GTA.
LTE is coming next year. Currently at 4G now.
You lock yourself in a contract now, the network will just get better in time yet still pay at a minimum.
IMHO I don't really see a big difference in signal. When my Telus work phone loses signal, so does my Wind phone.

- you're kidding right? I leave mine on LTE all the time, why wouldn't I? 3G is almost like dialup relative to LTE especially if the website has a lot of content on it to load. my old 9700 had 3G sometimes websites wouldn't even load without refreshing 2 or 3 times. there is no comparison.10-24-15 11:15 AMLike 0
- I had to leave Rogers because of ****ty reception - I know I'm like the only one but it has to be said. The LTE signal is not strong in my house, nor is the 4G reception. So my damn phone battery gets obliterated by jumping constantly between EDGE/3G/4G/LTE all day. It used to get so bad that I would just restrict my phone to using 2G and use WiFi only when I was in my house. When I left the house I would restrict it to 4G max because the LTE was just not worth the battery drain. I can stream just fine with 4G, that's the fastest thing I need to do. Not that I would want to with my very small data cap. I have so much beef with Rogers. I wanted to renew my 2-year premium phone plan with a new device and they wouldn't do it because I *had* to change to the new 2-year plans. But I signed up for the very first round of 2-year plans originally! So the 3 year to 2 year excuse didn't even apply to me, but the reps weren't trained to deal with us yet apparently lol. I got a $700 device on a 2-year plan paying $43 a month and now they wanted to increase my plan to minimum $70 a month if I got a new device, insane. They also billed me once for roaming in the USA when I hadn't even left the country/been close to the border in *months*. They eventually refunded me and apologized, but the grief I had to go through with the reps was insane. You'd think you could trust their billing but it was eye opening to see they could make such a random mistake. Never again...
I've been with all the major carriers and I have to just settle with WIND. Whenever I'm in a place without Wind reception I just roam on Rogers, it's dirty cheap (5 cents per text/mb, 15 cents per min). It's so cheap to roam that I don't even give it a second thought, but I only need it if I travel. I only pay $32.50 a month and I keep it prepaid, so no surprises. I figure I could be paying Rogers $43 a month still so that gives me 210 MB in roaming data to use guilt free.
There is 0 point for individuals to sign up with Rogers/Bell/Telus now, resellers are cheaper (Zoomer Wireless, Public Mobile, Speakout 7-11, Fido, Koodo and you won't have to worry about reception). Bundled services is the only time where it may become worth it, but I don't have any other services to pay for. Some of the grandfathered plans are great too, as long as you're okay with buying your phone outright.10-24-15 11:58 AMLike 0
