If the slider comes with android, would it have BlackBerry Protection to help against Android viruses/malware and would it have problems that if it effects an Android phone would it also effect the slider? For example like New Android Malware Strikes At Millions Of Smartphones.

No one can answer that question at this time. Anyone who knows, can't answer.

And, Android on the slider is still technically a rumour...

Chen said he will bring in Android phone only if he can make it secure. There is no other answer to this qn as of now other than this proclamation by the man himself.

That would apply to closed source OS'es as well.

Open source does not imply insecure.

I assume that makes Windows a paragon of security then...

This is fueling a large part of my reservation about Android. It is a major question for me *if* BlackBerry does go through with Android.

I'm looking forward to seeing how BlackBerry addresses this if the Android rumors are true.

Not likely unless BlackBerry developes some serious software to bake into the launcher that will do this. In BB10 it is saved to use Android apps because they run inside a sand box apart from the BlackBerry OS. If the OS is Android, that would not be the case.
